Rodrigo Defendi has joined newly-promoted Italian Serie B side US Avellino on a permanent transfer.

The young defender, 21, joined us from Cruzeiro in July, 2004 and has spent time on loan at Italian clubs Udinese and AS Roma in the last couple of seasons.

We wish Rodrigo all the best.

I'd always hoped he'd make the grade.

Officially the last of the Arnescum malarky?

Although I was mad at the time, I'm so glad Arnesen went to Chelsea as from that we poached DC who in my opinion has been a far better prospect.

Happy times!

other news... spanish newspaper marca has reported that drenthe, or as they call him 'the dutch roberto carlos, will sign for real madid today for 14million euros. apparently he was planning on taking his current team feyernoord to court because he felt their valuation of him (18 million euros) was sabotaging his career prospects. personally i think spurs have done well to avoid this chap, seems like his overnight fame has turned him into a right prick. the report also goes on to mention that wesley sneijder has turned down the opportunity to sign for the camisa blanco.

I've recently heard that Sneijder will stay with Ajax for 1 more season and then join Arsenal. Apparently he's very good mates with van persie. Hopefully this rumour is utter bollox....... the Arse having a midfield with Sneijder and Fabregas doesn't bare thinking about

Well, good luck to you rodrigo. Can remember him being arneson's first signing for 600 000. Hope we made some money on him. I spent the first two years of his time with us imagining what a fantastic CB partnership he would make with ledders, but alas, it was never to be. Maybe he just wasn't good enough. Atleast I can stop imagining now.

I was never really convinced he ever existed.

Michael Dawson. Tom Huddlestone.

That's two even if you don't count the summer 05 signings, when the club insisted he was still working for us even though he was officially Chelsea-bound. If you do count those signings, then add on Lennon, Routledge, Jenas, Lee, Stalteri and Tainio. Certainly I think Arnesen was central to the first two of those at least.

And he signed Jol.

Arnesen was a pivotal part of getting this new revolution rolling, so he left for the money big deal, most of us are swayed by easy money.

Besides all that, we got compensation and then Commoli arrived
