Younes Kaboul has enjoyed every minute of his first pre-season with us, but now he is simply itching for the proper stuff to get under way.

We travel to Sunderland on Saturday (August 11, 12.45pm) for our Barclays Premier League opener at the Stadium of Light, and our summer arrival from Auxerre believes he has learnt enough in recent friendlies to prepare him for life in England’s top division.

And although Younes admits to being no expert on our next opponents - having come to these shores from the French league - he knows all too well what to expect from a team looking to prove their top-flight credentials having just won the Championship.

The big defender said: “Pre-season has been very good. I learnt a lot from the Torino game at White Hart Lane last week, and the South Africa tour was excellent because we won the trophy.

“But now I’m looking forward to playing my first season in the Premier League – I feel ready. It’s time for me to show people what I can do.

“I think a team like Sunderland, that has just been promoted, will make it very difficult for us. They will come out and play hard, but we are confident.”

I don't think they will "come out and play hard" Younes my boy!

I expect them to sit deep an punt long balls.

But I expect BMJ will point that out to you before the game!

COYS!

I expect BMJ has already told his players how he thinks Sunderland will play.
Roy Keane wont play the long ball dude, they will work hard and for each other, it will be a very tough, physical game as Younes "my boy" has already told you.

Do you not know who their manager is? They will try to play football and try to win, 1st game of season sit deep against a team that are notoriously brittle away from home.... they'll give it a go... As for Kaboul, time will tell
