Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed his interest in Spurs striker Mido, who has four clubs battling for his signature.
The Boro boss slapped in a £6million offer to rival Birmingham City, Fulham and Sunderland in a four-way fight for the Egyptian international forward.
Southgate confirmed: "Yes we have made our interest in Mido known to Tottenham. Now we are awaiting developments."
The manager wants another striker in through the front door of the Riverside Stadium before the end of the month to provide extra competition for Yakubu, Jeremie Aliadiere, and the South Korea international Dong-Gook Lee.
Manchester City striker Giorgios Samaras had been targeted until Southgate switched his sights to the Tottenham man - who could not settle personal terms with Birmingham.
