Didier Zokora is targeting six points from our first two home games of the Barclays Premier League campaign.

A usually buoyant Didier was naturally down in the dumps after Saturday's opening day defeat at Sunderland and determined to put it right on home soil against Everton on Tuesday night (August 14, 8pm) and then Derby County on Saturday (August 18, 3pm).

Everton arrive at the Lane on the back of a win in their opener against Wigan at Goodison Park and, as last season's 2-0 win in the corresponding fixture underlines, are no pushovers on their travels. Indeed, that was one of only four league defeats we suffered at the Lane.

"The players aren't happy because we lost the first game but the next two games are at home and they are very important," insisted Didier after training at Spurs Lodge.

"If we can pick up six points from those two games we will then be confident and people won't be thinking about Sunderland.

"Everton are playing well and last season they beat us at White Hart Lane. That was disappointing and this is a big game. We want the three points and the players are motivated to show everyone - themselves, the manager, the fans - that we can bounce back from Sunderland.

"The fans are fantastic to me and I want us to go out and win those points for them."

Paul Robinson is thankful that our next game comes around quickly after the late goal denied us any reward from the trip to Sunderland on Saturday.

Michael Chopra's winner just seconds from time settled a contest that never really got going and made it an unhappy opening day for us in the North East

"We didn't deserve to win the game," said the goalkeeper afterward, who made two big saves in the encounter at the Stadium of Light. "We didn't play well, we should have nicked a point, but credit to Sunderland for nicking a goal that they probably deserved.

"It wasn't a good game and I only had to make a couple of saves. We're devastated, we wanted to get off to a good start and we've done exactly what we didn't want to do," he added, before turning his mind to the visit of Everton to the Lane on Tuesday night.

"The only good thing is that the next game is on Tuesday, we are at home again and we've got to get our season on track."

If you put things into perspective !! a win at everton and we are already in a better position than last season as we only gained a point out of 3 games away from the newcomers and obviously no points against everton !!

I think we got 3 points from the 1st 3 games last season. We bounced back from the defeat to Bolton to win against Sheff Utd at home then lose to Everton also at home. 6 points from the 1st 3 games before international duty would be a good return.

I hope they are feeling down about it, cos so am I, it nearly ruined a very good weekend for me. And a mate of mine supports Everton, so they'd better not beat us again.

YOU may have said it. A lot of people were bitchin and moaning but some of us stand by the players.... thick and thin. My weekend WAS ruined, I was so pissed off I had an argument with the wife which was totally my fault and am only just back to normal.

Come on Tuesday, Those players certainly owe me whatever about the moaners, I'm looking for them to repay my faith and I hope they weren't reading this site since saturday....

lol at the above post...

I have been there so many times mate. Result hurts like hell and you just lose your head :-) lol

It nearly ruined my weekend also but luckily I had a friends birthday to attend and I got totally wasted... try that next time!

Think Robbo sum's it up pretty well in his explanation. Get a result against the Toffee's please and then a goal fest at the Lane Saturday would be great as I am travelling from Bristol to watch it ;-)

COME ON YOU SPURS... Get this season started!

Play negative tactics and you get what you deserve.

I'm pretty sick of hearing how players are 'gutted' or 'down' or 'upset' after a defeat and how they 'know' / 'realise' / 'believe' that they have 'got to' / 'will' / 'must' do better in the next game.

Talk is cheap. Don't tell us about how great the spirit is in the camp. I'm not interested. Just go out and do your best. Play with heart and give it all. Let your actions speak for you and stop trying to explain and / or justify crap performances.

I don't care how much you earn. I care that you earn it.

Shut up and play.

Rant over.

Totally agree...do spurs players always have to realised how badly they have played after being defeated? Poor old Jol will always tell us how the spirit is high in the locker room, how good it was in training and how much they look forward to the game...but the matter of fact the way we were beaten by sunderland shows it all.....i mean where is the passion for the club?~~!!!!

Didiers statements seem to suggest that he expects to play on Tuesday .

Do hope Jol starts with Jenas and Hud .

I'd really like to see Taarabt given a run, even if just the second half.

God the ppl on this forum are often so clueless. Didier was one of 3 players (Steed and Kaboul) who played well on sat. Al the Zokora and Jenas bashers make me sick.

Eeryone knows we played garbage on sat, and yea it ruined all our weekends, but dont over react and bitch bout the players so much. Jol got the team wrong simple as, Salty is a rubbish left back, rocha should have played simple as. Tainio does nothin against small teams as he has no1 to track and make tough tackles against, taarbt shudda played obv. Best pre season player and i was in SA at the time i went to 4 pre season games in all so i think i can judge. Gardner also goes without sayin, rocha shud at least have played ahead of him.

However Jenas is NOT a bad player, jus the system with him and zokopops means we need pace out wide ie lennon. I love MJ but he does mess up tactics often.

Every1 stop being so negative and bashin the players, time to support the team. If chelsea or Arsenal were missin 7 first team squad players we wudnt hear the last of it (ekotto, lee, bale, king, dawson, lennon, boateng|), the talent is there jus start believing
