Gareth Bale admits he can barely wait to start playing after returning to full training today (Thursday, August 16).
The young full-back’s smile was beaming at Spurs Lodge after his first full session.
Our summer capture from Southampton picked was injured in the friendly against St Patrick’s back on July 12.
Saturday’s clash against Derby County may come around too soon for the Welsh international but, barring any reaction, he’ll soon make his competitive debut for us.
“My injury is coming along well and I want to get back into it as soon as possible. I can’t wait to get out there and start playing,” said Gareth, who then explained what the problem was.
“It was a thigh and knee injury, I tore my thigh a little and had bruising on my knee which took time to settle down. Hopefully I’ll kick on from here.”

Like another good player we signed from the south coast,a certain Mr Anderton,i just hope Bale is not as injury prone as he was.

hmm, i wonder if he'll be ready for Derby! that could be interesting, especially seeing as Lee looks like being ready so we could have lee at LB and Bale on the left flank
with routledge on the right
and taarabt in the middle with boateng
as you can see, i'm beginning to go sligtly mad!

Yes. Yes, you are.
Great news about Bale & LYP though. I suspect Taarabt will play on the wing (if & when he actually plays ???), at least at first, for fear of losing some defensive strength (??? again) particularly with our 9th choice back 4 playing.
Didn't make a lot of sense that, did it?
(SC: Selby, I need to talk to you about your drinking.
SY: Why, did I miss a round? Eek ...  )

How about, sack Jol make Clive Allen manager, play routledge buy back zeigler and Halfreedson, play them both on the left, taarabt in the middle with the fresh prince, Alnwick in goal and Dervette as holding midfield player even though he's in a leg brace.
Sack Levy and Comolli as well, its not like they've built much over the last couple of seasons.
How about getting Hoddle back, we were always top after the first 3 games of the season under Hoddle, so we finished 12 at the end of ever season, its where you are at the end of August that counts!

when you put it like that, all we need then is Rebrov and Richards and we're there!

Forget all the Bales and Young Pyo's of this world who needs Chimbonda too when we've got Tarricco and Carr...
Plus Gary Doherty anyone?

Does nobody know Martin Jol?
Team for tomorrow will be:
Robbo
Chimbonda Gardner Rocha Stalteri
Routledge Zokora Jenas Malbranque
Keane Bent
Subs - Defoe, Taarabt, Huddlestone, Lee, Cerny
Think it's almost a shoo-in. My only question mark is Defoe or Routledge (playing Defoe would mean Keane in midfield again. I hope we don't do that.)

you chose the wrong players as your examples!
Carr, until Graham left, was brilliant for us, but Graham and soon after Campbell left, Carrs two biggest allies at the club, and he became disillusioned, his performances dipped, and he began battling with other players within the club.
Taricco was a loyal, give his all, passionate, Spurs through and through legend! He may have been limited, but he stoppd wingers at any cost, he could pass the ball a bit, and he played for the club and for the fans, not for himself. And in the 5-1 league cup mauling of Chelsea, he was probably the best player on the pitch bar none! He loved the club and gave his all and that is much more than I can say for Chimbonda!
Doherty was clearly not a good player. But he was by far the bravest centre back I have seen in my 21 years of life, and I include Dawson in that. He battled like his life depended on it and gave his all, and I have nothing but praise for him.
And while I'm at it, other players who deserve more recognition and respect than they get are... Ramon Vega... like Doherty he never gave less than everything, much preferred him to that little shit Perry! I remember when we won the league cup, after we had scored heskey capitalised on a Campbell mistake and almost equalised but for a Ramon Vega last ditch tackle... and it was later revealed that before that incident Ramon Vega has actually broken his foot!
Chris Armstrong.... his main problem was that he was always injured. Yes, i did get frustrated at the amount of beautiful Ginola crosses that he wasted, but you know something, in his first season at the club he scored a hell of a lot when playing with Sheringham, and in his last fully fit season before injuries completely took over (Ginola's last season at the club) he scored 18 league goals, with Iversen scoring 15 league goals and 3 in the cups. We'd be in wonderland if our strikers scored like that in the league now!
Other names i'd like to add to this list are Steve Sedgely, Allan Nielsen and Colin Calderwood, none of whom were particularly great but all of whom always endeavoured to do their best for a club that was in the longest transitional period known to football!
The players you should have picked on when making crude statements about useless full backs should have been Edinburgh, Wilson, Nethercott (the reason everton won that semi final) and Austin!

Paulo Trammezzani at left back? or Nicola Berti in midfield? Trammaezzani came in and looked good when i saw him in pre-season (we also had titi camara on trial who looked awesome but we elected not to buy him). We then lost our first two games against wimbledon and sheffield wednesday, though he was not at fault, and then Gross got sacked after we went up and beat everton (the game when ferdinand got in trouble for criticising the ref after ginola had a blatant penalty refused). then, trammezzani never played for us again. I thought he was alright personally.
Nicola Berti was another italian who didn't do too well with us, he was once a great playmaker but his best days were far behind him and all he could really do was fall about and he had the work rate of a butterfly!

I genuinely believe Dean Austin is the worst fullback I have seen at any premiership club ever...he made edinburgh look like maldini.
