Our Premiership clash with Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on October 1 has been selected as the game that will mark the Club's official 125th Anniversary. This very special match will be played in honour of the late Bill Nicholson, the manager under whom Spurs recorded the domestic double in 1961, and became first English Club to win a European trophy in 1963.
On September 30, 1882, a group of boys from Hotspur Cricket Club attending the local grammar school played their first football match in the guise of Hotspur FC - a derby against local rivals, Radicals. Little can they have imagined that the Club that now bears their name would become one of the most recognisable names in world football, with a host of honours to its name.
It is with the 125th Anniversary in mind that the Villa game, the closest game to the actual date, will reflect on the Club’s glorious history.
The match is set to be a spectacular event, with the attendance of Spurs legends, and pre-match entertainment in and around the ground. Not only that, the first team will play for the first and only time in our 125 Special Edition Anniversary strip.
The Club will be releasing more details over the next few weeks, but be sure to get your tickets now so you don’t miss out on what will be a memorable night at The Lane.
Tickets are on sale to members now, and to the general public on August 23.
