Tottenham assistant boss Chris Hughton admits there is pressure on Spurs to get a result in Saturday's Premier League clash at home to Derby.

However, Hughton is encouraged by the determination from his players to kick-start their season.

Consecutive defeats, suffered against Sunderland and Everton, have seen Spurs prop up the table in the first week of the season, with manager Martin Jol attempting to overcome a lengthy injury list.

"We were looking to go into this Saturday with a home win under our belts having got something from Sunderland, but it hasn't worked out that way and now there is more pressure to get a result in the next game," said Hughton.

"The next game is Derby and I'm a believer that, in a situation like this, you want to get back out there again as soon as possible to put things right and the lads can't wait for it.

"I'm sure Derby will try to make it difficult for us but it has to be about us and about bouncing back from two defeats.

"It has been a disappointing start for all of us here and we're determined to get back to winning ways."

ive said it before and im going to say it again...

HUGHTON HAS TO GO!!

the assistant manager plays a very important role and he is obviously not up to the necessary standard.

the last manager to win anything at spurs, George graham, was also, incidently, the last manager to demote chris hugton to the youth academy.

Wow, that's almost a good enough reason for me to want to promote the guy. George Graham was a corrupt manager responsible for boring, negative football and delivering Arse their continuing domination of us. The League cup win was more to do with the rare fact that we had Anderton and Ginola both fit and and in form for a couple of days during that competition. And, by the way, it was the League cup - less devalued than today but still the League cup.

What makes you think you can tell anything about Hughton from his press releases? They're all carefully crafted to say nothing negative about anyone - us or them - and to give nothing away. Its the "practice your cliches" speech from "Bull Durham" every time - as it should be. The last thing we want is for them to be memorable in any way - remember Keegan?

So then koume2 exactly what do base that upon? What insightful revealing knowledge of his role at Spurs do you have? Or are you just yet another scapegoat seeker because we have lost our last two games? (incidentally were you calling for him to go after our two successive 5th placed finishes?)
