Juande Ramos has shrugged off the likely absence of Roman Pavlyuchenko ahead of Tottenham's trip to Stoke.
The Russian striker had to be substituted in the first half of Spurs' shock 1-0 defeat at home to Hull earlier this month.
Scans later revealed that Pavlyuchenko had a partially torn ankle ligament and he was unable to link up with his country for World Cup duty.
Ramos has now confirmed that he does not expect the 26-year-old to recover in time to face Stoke on Sunday.
Asked what his chances of playing were, Ramos replied on Sky Sports News: "At this moment, little. He is injured, his ankle is bad and he is training alone.
"Tomorrow is the last day of training and we will decide then."
Pavlyuchenko's absence leaves Ramos with just two senior strikers at his disposal but the Spanish manager is not concerned.
He said: "We have Darren Bent, we have Fraizer Campbell, but injuries are a part of football.
"Sometimes it leaves a position more weak and this week it is with strikers, but it is a normal situation."
Vital
Tottenham remain bottom of the Premier League without a win and Ramos accepts that it is vital to pick up three points at the Britannia Stadium.
However, Ramos has dismissed suggestions that his days at the club could be numbered.
"Until the end of my contract - this is the time I have," Ramos insisted.
"It's sometimes difficult to explain this situation but the team is losing
1-0, 2-1, it's very near the victory.
"In our situation all the matches are very important. We need to win at Stoke. All the games are important because at the moment this is a serious situation for us.
"I'm worried because we want to win but this is a normal situation we have had since the start of the season.
"We are working very hard. We want to finish this situation very quickly."
