Juande Ramos admits Tottenham Hotspur are not too good to go down after revealing he has held 'a very nice' meeting with chairman Daniel Levy.
Spurs are bottom of the Premier League table after failing to win in seven games, sparking speculation about Ramos' future at White Hart Lane.
Having been in the job for almost a year, Ramos has insisted that he has no intention of walking away from his post as Spurs boss.
And, despite being the bookmakers' favourite to be the next manager to leave, Ramos is confident he has the club's backing following his meeting with Levy.
"It was very nice, very happy," said Ramos. "He's very happy.
"We know the problem and we are speaking about looking for the solution, but the meeting was nice."
Ramos is keen for his team to play their way out of trouble, starting at Stoke on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1, but he accepts Spurs have to prove they deserve to stay in the top flight.
He added: "To win matches you need to play football. Fighting is difficult because they are a very strong team. I think we need to play.
"We have to show that we are worthy to stay up, but if we are not winning games it doesn't count for anything. We need to win matches.
"Yes, we are in a relegation battle. We need to work very hard to climb the table. I don't agree we are too good to go down."

I wonder if levy has the balls to stand in front of the players and tell them that juande is still the best man for the job and that they are the only ones that can get us out of this mess? The other thing that worries me is that they have an excuse to underperform, meaning the lack of top strikers. Someone needs to stand up and take charge of the situation and look forward not back.

Against Stoke we should be fighting, not playing our way out of trouble. If we are two or three up, then we can relax a bit a play the game. If they were available I would have Edgar Davids, michael Brown, tanio,& sean Davis as opposed to the larry lightweight we currently employ. Once out of the mess then the can afford the Bentlys, Santos & Modric. I'd even have Mido over Pav at moment. I do think we have better squad nowadays, but are they up for the fight ahead. This Stoke game has a lot riding on it
Ramos is the man for the job for me & its good to hear such honesty being spoken from him.
Big mistakes were made in this transfer window which can never happen again. There is no way ramos wanted to lose keane & the bulgarian but i just feel given time then ramos will get things right.

We can only play with the players weve got not the ones we sold or wished we got.
We need to football our way out of this not fight.Lets play them off the park, thats what our current squad was designed to do
Were not winning because we are not playing well, passing, supporting using the midfield instead of lumping it up front. We dont have the players to play the Bolton way, thank god.
Lets play to our strenghts. It makes no difference where you are in the league, top or bottom we need to play better football, play the Tottenham way which is what we havn't done so far.
Keane,Berbatov or Defoe were not fighters, they were skilful footballers.I suppose Keane played with energy but it was his skill that made the difference.
I dont think call Modric a 'Larry Lightweight. Small yes but quite a scrapper and its his skill that will eventually get us out of trouble. Malbranque, might have been given another season but Brown,Davis and Tainio were not good enough. Davids was past it.

I wonder if one of the problems JR and DL were talking about was a certain Sporting Director?

Spot on - yes we need to show fight, but if we just go up there for a scrappy victory then we play right into stoke's hands. As you say lets go there & play them off the park - with that in mind, how about this side for tomorrow?
Gomes
Coluka King Woody Bale
Jenas Zakora Modric
Lennon GDS
Bent
If we can get that side to click then Stoke would be on the end of a hiding - it's packed full of quality!

Exactly mate.
It's Stoke Fu*king City for fu*ks sake. With that squad we should give most teams a run for their money. Annoying thing is that, as shit as a result Hull was, we did'nt actually play that badly. We just need our confidence back.
Totally off the subject. But did anyone else see Ramos' press conference on the BBC website? How squeaky is his voice in English?
