Venue: Britannia Stadium Date: Sunday, 19 October Kick-off: 1600 BST

Stoke striker Ricardo Fuller is unlikely to start, having played in two games for Jamaica in the past week.

Mamady Sidibe is expected to replace him, while defender Abdoulaye Faye faces a fitness test on a groin problem and may be replaced by Ibrahima Sonko.

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko partially tore ankle ligaments two weeks ago but faces a late check to see if he can return earlier than expected.

Club captain Ledley King has overcome a knee injury and declared himself fit.

Stoke (from): Sorensen, Griffin, Sonko, Cort, Abdoulaye Faye, Higginbotham, Tonge, Diao, Olofinjana, Amdy Faye, Delap, Kitson, Sidibe, Fuller, Cresswell, Simonsen, Whelan, Shawcross, Soares, Wilkinson.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis:

"We'll respect them, they've got some fantastic players.

"I saw them playing down at Portsmouth and they were unfortunate to get beaten there.

"Their manager is having a difficult time and it's up to the board to stand up now and back him.

"He's had a trouble replacing Berbatov and Keane, but I'm manager of stoke not Tottenham so I'm not concerned about what they're thinking or doing. I'm more concerned about my team."

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos:
"To win matches you need to play football. Fighting is difficult because they [Stoke] are a very strong team. I think we need to play.

"We have to show that we are worthy to stay up, but if we are not winning games it doesn't count for anything. We need to win matches.

"We are very good in defence, in midfield very good but we need to improve and score goals."

BIG-MATCH FACTS

The Premier League's cellar dwellers lock horns in the Potteries.

Winless Spurs, on the joint worst ever start to a league season in their history, pay their first visit to the Britannia Stadium for Stoke's 2,000th top-flight match.

Between them Stoke (Football League founder members) and Spurs (Premier League ever-presents) have lost 10 matches and won just one this season, dropping a collective 36 points.

This is Tottenham's 35th Premier League match under Juande Ramos. They have only won 10 in his tenure.

Tony Pulis selects a side for his 600th league match as a manager, and 100th league game since his return to Stoke in June 2006.

Spurs recorded their joint biggest away win in top-flight football when defeating Stoke 1-6 at the Victoria Ground on 15 September 1951.

Distance between the clubs: 161 miles (257 kilometres)

Stoke are very one dimensional atm, I am hoping King plays, they will play the long ball so we'll be heading the ball out quiet a lot, we need to win the second ball, it's vital we win the knock downs to start our attacks from.
Their defense is big and strong but not the best technically so there might be a pen to look for (can i say that? lol).

I think we can, and should beat Stoke, i'm going for 2 - 1 to us.

We have to win. We will win. We are winners. We have one of the best squads in the Prem.
Wouldnt pick big Al just yet. He might play 20mins and then another 20mins on Thurs. And then he will be back, but for tomorrows win against Stoke, my starting XI would be;
Gomes
Corluka, Woody, King, Bale
Bentley, Modric, Hudd, Lennon
Campell, Bent.

The reason I have Hudd instead of JJ is because, Hudd can play a kiler ball at any time in the 90mins, he is our best passer, and that is what we need tomorrow. Someone who can deliver that killer ball in the final third. The Hudd is the man for that. COYS

Good post SM. I think Ramos will introduce the Hudd at some point
whether he will start with him is another thing.

Dont get me wrong, I am really confident of a win tomorrow, but then I was against Hull as well. We really must show our true colours tomorrow and come out fighting.

The game tomorrow is of course more about game plan.
They know we are going there to clinch 3 points. It's all about who will score the first goal. We do. To score first is paramount. Then we can play hit them on the break. Our set peices have been severly lacking. We need
to address this as well as defend them accordingly.

I really want to see us have more shots on goal. Make their keeper work
as the saying goes.

Who would have predicted that Spurs v stoke would be like a final !?

All we are saying is give us a win.

Why do people keep saying Hudd should be in the side - He is jst far to slow & imobile to play central midfield in the prem - His perfomance against villa at home was an embarassment - we all know he has great vision but its not enough - he can't run & he can't tackle so is a total liability - Zakora all day long over the Hudd

Spurs will never win until everyone learns to spell Zokora. The future is in your hands, guys. You can do it!

the thing with Ramos is that we don't really have a clue as to what team he's going to field. Keep in mind that we play Udinese in the uefa cup on thursday so that could definately affect team selection, as it seems Ramos sees the uefa cup as more important than the league, or so it seems. Anyway here's the team I would play

Gomes
Corluka-Woody-King-Bale
Bentley-Modric-Zokora-Lennon
Dos Santos-Bent
