View Full Version : Sing Up on Sunday
I'm gonna keep this short but how much of a Tottenham fan are you? Think about it.
A 'Rebel Supporters' group has called for a demo on Sunday against Levy, Commoli et al (personally I think Commoli has been useless). This is however possibly the most stupid, anti productive news I have heard from WHL in a while. This sort of thing this early in the season WILL make us go down and make us the laughing stock that the press so want us to be. (there was a whole page in the Gaurdian taking the mick out of us today)
Newcastle supporters did it the other week and showed themselves up for what they are. Desperate, disillusioned, reactionary supporters - They went on to lose the home game V Hull, surprise, surprise. Thing is unlike them, we have actually got a reason to be angry - we have won trophies, we have been there and done that (albeit a few years ago), we have seen the glory - but now, this early in the season is not the time, Bolton will beat us and generally it will ruin us.
Now is the time to vocally support the team, get behind them, roar them on as per usual with a little bit extra added on. If all is the same going into the New Year then it would be different but if we don't get some points on the board soon then we are doomed.
Standing around waving a leaflet like a t**t on Sunday will help no one. Lets close ranks and show these people who we are, that we are a unit off the field and hopefully that might spread onto the field.
Make WHL a noisy, hostile, uncomfortable place for an away team to play in on Sunday and drown out these idiots in the stands who obviously care but never think their actions through. I'm pretty sure the result will follow and that could change our season.

Why don't we do both --- support for the team and outrage of Levy?

100% right and i intend to be very vocal in my support of the team this sudnay.
i wonder who those who actually want levy out actually think is going to come in and do better? do they happen to have several hundred million squid just lying around? if so, fancy putting it to good use and helping me with my student debt?

I will be hungover but supporting the team and not wasting my breath on 'Levy out'. Inane, counter-productive, idiotic, useless, fatuous.
Those are the words that come to mind vis-a-vis this 'demonstration'.

Several million squid will only help your student debt? That's a lot of snake bites.

all this talk about protests is feeding the press with more rubbish stories to sell and ammo to use against spurs in that delightful way they do. and the worst part is that it could end up making the actual match a side-show, like the cartoon army did against hull. If this happens then Bolton will laugh their way to 3 points. the players have to be focussed on their game and the best thing we can do is support the team. how about handing out sh*t loads of "come on you spurs" leaflets and urging everyone to sing it all the way through. ...remember the atmosphere at home to sevilla in the uefa cup a few years back

All I'm interested this sunday is losing my voice cheering the spurs on; I can't remember the last time we created a proper barrage of noise at the lane - all i've heard the last few games i've been too is tuts and boos; its counter productive and doesn't help anyone but the away fans.
Lets get behind the boys and forget this leaflet bollocks, if we're still in this situation in 5 games time then yes, but right now are team needs us.
Are any of the other spurs sites promoting the leaflets?

Levy might have made mistakes and at the moment I’m pissed off with what I see in front of my very eyes but everyone who shouts Levy out must be careful what they wish for, do they want a Rinsdale or the owners of the spammers who come in a throw money around getting the supporter all excited and then the next year leave the club in a situation far worse than ours. What ever happens we have the backing and power to survive and comeback, we won’t go to the wall under levy but that could all happen with someone else. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Anyway it will be hard not to get annoyed with the team on Sunday if we aren't playing well but we all really need to all try and stay focused even if we go behind. This is the time for us to help drag the players along, which in turn should get them fighting that bit harder.

It’s not just down to the 11 on the pitch everyone has a role to play

Come on you spurs

Common Sense, well said lad! I was at he Spurs Sunderland game and was appalled to hear the boo's, this does nothing put more anxiety on the team.
Get behind the lads and drown out those muppets who want to protest!

HA! ..thats pretty much the reaction we need, you get the jist dougal.. it was a shame to be at the hull game and only hear the "we are tottenham, super tottenham...." song about 3 times and that was it. i admittedly was one of the many shellshocked ones who didn't really make much noise at all. my point is that all this noise needs to be channeled in the right way! none of this protest nonsense, that can come after the game if it needs to.

I have no doubt that if their is a protest, we will go down for sure, it will create more pressure and a terrible feeling around the club. It won't surprise me if this demo is actually organised by ar5ena1 fans pretending to be Spurs.
The only time a protest could be possible is if we've already reach 40 points this season then at least we know we're staying up but even then i'm not too sure.

I agree lets hear the jokes and take the banter and lets keep on supporting - because thats what being a football fan is about. Lets show them who we are:

Quite right, the players already know the trouble we are in, lets prove to the board just how much the club means to us and get behind the team. Forget the politics...for now

Who are these protestors? What action group is calling for a new Chairman and new ownership? Has anyone out there actually heard of anyone who is supporting (financially or by offering their time) this course of action? Are any of the other Spurs sites supporting this action? There were no quotes, names or anything of susbstance in the original Daily Mail/Evening Standard article (as far as I can remember).
In the unlikely event that someone was distributing "Levy out" leaflets outside WHL this Sunday, I suspect they would quickly find their 25,000 leaflets stuffed in an extremely uncomfortable place.
I think we all know this not the right time for this kind of action. We all need to get behind the team on Sunday. If we do, and I believe we will, our captain Ledley King will lead us to a crucial first victory this season.
In the meantime we will need to ignore the speculation and fabrication that is par for the course for broadsheets and tabloid alike.

A Sing out for Spurs Campaign would be much more beneficial to all involved.
In all seriousness though, and I am sorry if this is being mentioned elsewhere, but is there any way all the forums/ official supporters club could come together in ensuring the demo has no legs?
What can the true supporters do to stop this happening?

The best atmosphere I've ever experienced at the lane. If we can replicate that on Sunday, or anywhere near to it, then I guarantee* that we will win.
* Figure of speech - no guarantee will actually be granted.

To be fair, i think the Spurs fans have been great through this. They're often in full voice home or away. I dont think that will change on sunday. The only thing i dont agree with is when they boo the players off at half time. Its only half way through a match and it plays into the opposition hands. You know the manager will feed off that for the opposition at half time, tell them how frustrated the fans are, and get them to keep piling on the pressure. We need to sing until we win.

Couldn't agree more with this post.
Anyone hear or see the Barcodes' match last night? I am convinced it was their crowd (showing their good side on this occasion) that brought that team back from the brink of a probable defeat. That's what we should be emulating - not the 'Ashley Out' protests.

No it was the quarter final v Sevilla, second half when we were pretty much down and out. Semi's v Scum was a bit different because we were giving them a good hiding at the time! Ah the good ol' days...

yep they were both quality atmospheres. At the end of the UEFA game even the Sevilla fans were singing "Tottenham" as we were walking out...........bizarre!!

"Rebel group '',''Ramos revolution' , i watch the premier league and Spurs to find some relaxation from the madness that engulfs the Middle East ,albeit with the help of Mr Bush and Mr Blair .AND the turmoil has now reached North London ,couldn't the spainard has kept his revolution in Spain and saved us some heartache ,because if you start a revolution you are going to face an insurgency, espically if you chop the heads of the whole team and there is no body to render any service .Don Quxiote ,welcome to the North Side of foggy London.

I live thousands of miles away from White Hart Lane, so it's all the one to me since I wont be there, but I'd be more than happy to see some protesting. It doesn't have to be either or, it can be both - support the team and voice disapproval at decision-making that has seriously undermined the footballing side of our great club.
It'll also be interesting to watch if the vociferous support being unanimously touted on here can be maintained if we see sloppy goals conceded, half-hearted effort, zero attacking threat, bewildering tactics and substitutions, and passes to the touchline while under no pressure whatsoever. The players also have to grow a spine and earn the fans support and adulation. We have been shockingly bad for a while now - both in terms of on-the-field performance and off-the-field strategy. Vocal support may improve the former while vocal protest may improve the latter.
Every spurs fan goes to games to support and I'd like to see the players earn that - and that doesn't mean trying to break a player's leg and then behaving like Ashley Cole afterwards (what has happened to Michael Dawson).
this is more like it we dont need any protest, im going to the game and we always win when i go
