Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected not to travel to Thursday night's Uefa Cup match against Udinese amid fears over the personal abuse he would receive from fans.
Instead the confrontation will be delayed until next week, when the club announce their financial results at their AGM, to be attended by Levy and members of their supporters' trust. The chairman almost never misses a European game but he is said to have received abusive emails and remains in the United States on business.
Levy's detractors have mobilised their opposition and a newly-formed fans' group are distributing thousands of leaflets ready for Tottenham's match at home to Bolton on Sunday, when Juande Ramos' team chase a first-win after their worst ever start to a league season.
Criticisms at the AGM are expected to focus heavily on the role of sporting director Damien Comolli, held responsible for failing to replace Tottenham's departure after the summer exit of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, although it is possible the controversial Frenchman could already have been sacked by then.
The deficiencies of the team assembled by Comolli will be seen against Udinese, when Tottenham's injury crisis will make it difficult for them to field enough substitutes, and the options for Ramos became even more limited on Tuesday when Michael Dawson was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association – leading to a likely four-match ban.
Dawson was sent off in injury time in the defeat at Stoke last Sunday for his tackle on Mamady Sidibe and has been banned for three matches, but the FA are set to extend this for the centre-back's petulant reaction to his dismissal. The 24-year-old has until 6pm on Wednesday to answer the charges before his case is heard by a regulatory commission on Thursday.
The latest setback stems from the decision Ramos made not to risk Ledley King at the Britannia Stadium. King is talismanic at his best but an ongoing knee injury means he cannot play two consecutive games – as such this dilemma returns for the manager in Udine, where a European appearance for the captain would rule him out of Sunday's arguably more important match against Bolton.

None of this is going to help the situation. How is abusing Levy going to win us some games?
FFS smarten up.

What are they on about? Dawson won't be banned from Europe for getting sent off in the Premier League! Donuts.

Being at the bottom of the table is the catalyst but these are the men at the top and the whole lot of them (not just Levy) need to take some responsibility this time .
Ultimately the current situation is a problem of their own making , greed and unrealistic expectations and timescales .
If BBLG has to eat his hat then Levy and Mills particularly should have to eat their words at the AGM .
I won't be protesting because I don't want to associate with a rabble and because I'd rather Levy than a Shinawatra or Abrahamovich .

FFS bring in Rocha and Taarabt then. I cant see Rocha doing any worse than Daws or Taarabt any worse than Bentley.

It depends if they've been registered to play in the UEFA or not, and as we hear they are training with the reserves it would seem unlikely.

Exactly - we've got players sat in the reserves without a squad number, with premierleague experience who could surely make a difference. Stalteri (who has the experience of a battle from his loan period at Fulham last season), Rocha, who I thought always played well when called upon (we even played him left back on occasion), Taarabt, who needs nurturing but has talent, and like BBLG was talking about - Ghaly. I watched back through a review of the season DVD when we finished 5th for the second season running; Ghaly was involved in an awful lot of goals we scored, and I was really impressed with his spirit. He did really well at Derby last season as well, and must be worth a ressurection. He certainly has the fight for it. We have this habit of discounting players, then let them move on and they do incredibly well. Most of them have ended up at Portsmouth in the past, this season its Sunderland. Lets not make that mistake again and give these boys a chance!

Just seen Beckham has signed for AC Milan so we could see him at the Lane if we get through the group stages

Basically all that article said was that Levy won't be attending Udinese game because he is in the United States on Business and fuck all else.
We know some knob heads are talking about a protest on Sunday and they now know that they will have thousands of fans confronting them it will be a non event and the express is days late pushing it.
I don't doubt abusive emails have been sent but that has probably been happening for the last 8 years and there are plenty of supporting emails.
And for the record it was right not to play Ledley last week.
What an absolute pile of crap God I wished I'd known that all you need to be a journalist was to be able to make up any old shit, I 've wasted my life working for a living.

We should have brought him back to spurs to get us out of this sh1t. Yeah his wages would be high but he would have had an instant confidence impact which we so desperately need
Not sure the shopping in Tottenham high road matches milan though.
Dawson and woodgate to play on thursday then. Corluka will need a week or two to recover from his head injury so they wont rush him back in. King to play v Bolton.

Levy should publicly apologize and we should go ahead after this.

Its academic now, but there are other factors which were in our favour.
He was brought up in Higham's Park/Chingford though, which is where his dad still lives (10 mins from the Lane). His dad has had heart trouble not so long ago, and with the rift healed, some time with his dad might be nice. Posh's mob is from Herts (Cheshunt I think), which is probably about 20-30 mins from the Lane. They did used to live in Herts somewhere and probably still have a house. I like to think if we pushed harder we might have been in with a shout.
I also suspect his missus heard the word Milan in the news, and proceed to drag him there by his nutsack.

I thought he came from Leytonstone. Born at Whipps Cross hospital.

I know. I was too. I did say "brought up", not born. AFAIK, Ted Beckham lives off Hall Lane, near the A406. At least until a few months ago. I don't know exactly where. Not sure if that's the house David was brought up in, as some say he was brought up in Highams Park, near the Station/The Avenue somewhere. I think one of his sisters lives in Loughton and has a beauty salon there.
Anyway, I digress. The point was that David has plenty of ties close to the Lane. I don't think landing him was as impossible as it sounds. Although I also think it caught everyone by surprise and that his missus played a strong part in directing his career towards Milan.

i love the fact that i've said nothing yet in this thread and yet i'm referred to twice!
and i am petrified at the hat that awaits me. does anybody have a suggestion as to how i do it without damaging myself or throwing up? no jokes, this is serious.
on the plus side, much as i hate them, i put 100 quid on 3-0 utd last night and left the bookies earlier with 800 quid (plus my original 100). thank you berbatov (and the ref who said he was onside)
i'm wondering (and i'm not expressing any of my own views on the matter here) if this agm meeting might be when the club anounce something big. I only say this because a mini-connection (the same who told me about the squad harmony being damaged by the lack of respect shown to the numberless players at least 3 weeks before the story appeared in the papers) told me that he knows for a fact that something big is being brewed for it and that it is something that will divide opinion and whether positively or negatively, excite us all. This would be in line with various reports in the papers regarding either a new stadium, or comolli, but i wouldnt have thought an agm was the time or the place, especially given the little that i am learning in company law at the moment.
anyway, we'll see, its pinch of salt stuff but i thought (even though its vague as hell and reveals nothing) i'd share what i'd been told

How's this for the suggestion, take that (almost) grand you have and pay for a night out for SC members to watch you eat your hat or worse a prawn sandwich. Deal?

I didn't do anything against Spurs. He did. And all of us know it. What's wrong if a guy who is guilty for our desperate situation apologize for his mistakes during the last year. I understand that he was a good Chairman during the first several years of his tenure, but then Levy made a number of mistakes.
If he apologize publicly, we can get behind him, behind the club and the lads and overcome.
I believe that one should apologize for his/her mistakes and the apology should be accepted in most cases.
Levy must show humility, come to the Bolton game, take the mike and say: " I am sorry!"
Nobody is bigger than the club. Nobody - doesn't matter how good player he is, how good gaffer he is or how rich he is.

Are you serious?? You honestly think that him saying sorry on the pitch all the fans that are calling for him to sack Comolli/Ramos or resign will sit there and suddenly say oh well thats ok then he apologised so everything is ok now?
Get real they would then want something done about it and with a view of fixing the problem(s) they would most certainly not sit there and say oh thats ok.
I am sure he is aware that mistakes have been made and he may well apologise at some point in the future when he has looked to rectify the mistakes and we have climbed the table and got some more points on the board but he most certainly will not do it on Sunday and it certainly would not help.

Noiseboy -very good post -Ghally is in the diaspora because of the Board;s decision ,not the manager ,What does the board know about football .as much as i know about nuclear fission,i read in egyptian newspapers two years ago tht Zaki had his sights set on Spurs ,that's before the Board dehumanised Ghally ,a player who was responsible for twelve goals in scores and assissts and penalties realized .Levy never lost his teeth for Spurs and that idiot Ramos even deprived him of his number .No wonder we are in crisis.

Have a paramedic on standby (no joke either!)... half the stuff we do digest regularly are not particularly good for us, so things that weren't made for eating certainly won't be good!!! Perhaps you can "cheat" with a paper hat??? I wouldn't be holding it against you, as it's that or roll around on the floor on youtube having severe stomach cramps and convolusions, then walking around for the rest of your life with your undigested bowler hat looking constantly pregnant.
Health issues aside, I think this AGM could reveal a few things too, i would at least expect a chairmen statement of confession, and reassurance about club direction - as long as that is not "don't worry, tickets are cheaper in the championship, we fancy that new challenge, and rest assured we will dominate there"
