There is little doubting that the Uefa Cup will provide beleagured Tottenham with a welcome break, but Gus Poyet insists the club will not let their European forays distract from their Premier League woes.

Spurs’ domestic toils are no secret – no wins and only two points from eight games see them stranded at the bottom of the table.

They have, even if somewhat unconvincingly, progressed to the Uefa Cup group stages where they shall begin with a trip to Udinese on Thursday.

“The Premier League should always be the most important one – the other ones are bonuses,” assistant manager Poyet told Setanta Sports News.

“If you’ve got the chance to go through in any cup and it’s close to the final and you can win it, that’s fantastic.

“But that’s an extra. The Premier League is the most important.”

Is this Poyet at loggerheads with Ramos for what would appear the first time? Well it is a desperate situation.

Any chance of playing King in the league then?

play King tonight, rest him against Bolton (use Corluka for that one), then play him against the Arse...surely he can recover by then. I thought Woodgate was the sicknote, he's been solid as a rock since his arrival.

Just stay well clear from Gomez and you'll all be fine boys

But Bolton is more important than Arsenal. If we win, which is more likely with King, then there will be less pressure against Arsenal and Corluka should be ok. If we lose, without King more possible, then barring (let's face it) a miracle, we will be ten games in with two points.

Bottom line is, I don't think we can beat or even draw with Arsenal even with King. But we can beat Bolton and have a better chance with King.

You've got a really interesting point here and it would be interesting to find out what others have to say.
Any other time, I would have said to field our strongest team against the Arse. But, any other time, we wouldn't have had 2 points from 8 games and I would have expected us to beat Bolton at home.
Also, our biggest issue this season has been scoring goals and that's something Ledley isn't known for. Right now it's such a shame that it seems like he can't play in both games.
