SPURS are caught in a football Cold War after Russian chiefs blew their top when Roman Pavlyuchenko played at Stoke -because they thought he was injured.
The striker came on as a sub on Sunday four days after missing the World Cup qualifier with Finland.
Pavlyuchenko, 26, and Spurs’ medics had convinced Russia boss Guus Hiddink he needed another 14 days to fully recover from an ankle injury.
Hiddink is already worried by Pavlyuchenko’s poor form and this could be the end of his international career.
A source in the Russian team said: “Pavlyuchenko is very lucky we won 3-0.
“If we had lost or drawn, Guus would never have forgiven him for not playing.”
