Darren Bent is no stranger to teams bossed by Gary Megson and expects Bolton to fit that Megson mould at the Lane on Sunday.

The striker first came up against Megson teams in his time at Ipswich Town when the Bolton boss was in charge of West Brom and guided the Baggies to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League in 2001-02 and 2003-04.

He also faced him in his new role as Bolton boss in last season's 1-1 draw at the Lane.

"I remember from his time at West Brom and when I was at Ipswich that his teams were always strong and this will be no different," said Darren.

"Bolton will be a difficult side to play against, highly motivated and will play in a physical style.

"They are similar to Stoke in some respects in that they've got a lot of big guys but we know if we can get the ball down and pass it, we can beat anyone, especially at home.

"It's an important game and if we can get in front, the crowd will get right behind us and that should give us the platform to go on and win.

Much as I sympathise with Darren Bent who I think is working very hard and getting zero support..............that is very funny.

yeah have to say I think Bent is a genuine sort of player trys his best all of the time just dont think his best is good enough to take the burden of being our lone striker. You need a physical presence and good touch he struggles with both although agree he is being screwed to a degree by our so called midfield leader Jenas who makes next to no effort to support Bent

One of the most pointless articles posted about Spurs - they clearly have nothing to say anymore and even the party-line 'we're all postive stuff' is fading fast.

He isn't good enough, Bent that is and I doubt that Pav will be either even though he deserves the benefit of the doubt as it is still early. All this trying stuff about him is also starting to wear thin as the bloke is rarely showing for the ball to feet, doesn't have movement to loose his markers and he causes us to play negatively too often and so we go into games with little or no goal threat and no ability to play in the oppositions half.

Due to Bents poor movement and Pavs slowness, the result is that the Defence and Midfield play sideways or backwards and eventually the opposition realise our weakness and push us back. It is then only a matter of time before we concede and with no hope of scoring more than one goal we can't win the game and will probably concede again trying to force a goal.

It's the same pattern each time and is a situation that gets worse after each result. Ramos has been guilty on occasions of tactical or selection mistakes but we all know he wasn't responsable for the pathetic state of our front line which unless radically improved in january will send us down.

I am not laying all the blame on Bent (or Pav) as he doesn't deserve all of it (many have made individual mistakes too), he is merely a victim of his own limited ability and circumstances that brought him to Spurs when he never should have been bought. Your points about his first touch are also quite fair too.

Jenas, will never be influential enough to be the player we need and although he can be quite a tidy player and occasionally score the odd goal he is not dominant when we need a dominant player and neither is he a leader in any form. His support of the frontline is for me all about his intelligence. He doesnt seem to know when to do it and when not. A player that I hated was Bryan Robson but he was excellent at arriving on time to finish or support forwards jenas could learn from a few videos of his time as a player.
