BBC Gossip:

Spurs' Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov is not concerned that the fans do not sing his name - because he says it's too much of a tongue-twister. "It's probably because my name is too difficult for them to fit into a song," said Berbatov. "Even when I played for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, the fans did not have a song for me."

I can't believe we wouldn't have a song for every player!! Let's come up with some ideas and see what Dimi gets at WHL.

"Dimitar Berbatov, Dimitar Berbatov........" He might have a point though!

Its been on the forums many times, but the best is to the tune of Karma Chameleon by Culture Club:

Dimi, Dimi, Dimi, Dimi, Dimitar Berbatov / He scor-ores goals / He scor-ores gooooa-ooaa-ooals!

Repeat to fade....

Apologies but I can't see that catchin on and even if it did, it seems a little on the gay side, lol!

Just the standard DIMI-TAR BERBA-TOV, DIMI-TAR BEBRA-TOV would be the way to go!

As it's almost Xmas, how about to the tune of Jingle Bells;

Dimitar Berbatov playing down the Lane
Dimitar Berbatov scoring once again - hey!
Dimitar Berbatov scoring just for fun
Terrorising centre backs, he's got them on the run

As you can see, it was the first thing I thought of, but I did try!!

How about using the tune from Tenacious D's 'Wonderboy'? It would go..

Berbatov, what is the secret of your powers?
Berbatov, won't you take us 1 goal up and kill the competition now?

Maybe a different second verse if anyone can think of one?

COYS!!!

We need to come up with something for Berbatov....he is fast becoming a Lane Legend.

As for other players songs, I think Pascal deserves a tune and it's a shame we have already used the: "Do do do Didier Zakora!" on Zakora and not Chimbo.

I only say this as I like another song for Zakora.....

"What's that coming over the hill? Is it Zakora? Is it Zakoraaaaaa?"
And repeat...(To the tune of 'Monster' by The Automatic)

Still, I don't want to reinvent the wheel here. Mere suggestions for the faithful.

Hows about we all just get megaphones and scream out "Dimitar, we f00king love you!"

I was at Leverkusen the other night and was very impressed with Berby's attitude at having scored against them. He just put his head down and ran back to the centre circle. I think we've got one who cares for his club. Hopefully he'll give us five years as well.

As for a song, when he was taken off their fans just shouted Be-ba-tov a few times with no particular tune - just getting louder and louder. It sounded pretty good actually. Karma-Chameleon works but what do you sing at the end? - "he comes and scores" or "he scores for Spurs".

The support was brilliant the other night. I honestly think that the relentless chorus of "Martin Jol's Blue and white army" (I mean it went on for about ten minutes non-stop) was the pressure which gave the boys the strength to get the goal.

In the end if he wants his name on the spurs songsheet all Berbatov has to do is sink the gooners on Saturday! Yid Army!!

Ha ha, Rodge that "I love Martin Jol" song is brilliant! Don't rate the chances of 36,000 Yiddo's learning the words to that one though...!

The monster song is Chimbonda not Zokora

Jesus Christ...Dimitar...

repeat...

I was heading in the direction of the same melody, but the lyrics, er, um...dunno about that first line.

How about

"Dimitar Berbatov
Scoring the goals we've been dreaming of"

Further amendments welcome.

I liked a previous suggestion I read here:

To the tune of Kooks 'She Moves In Her Own Way'

...'Oooh, Oo-oo-ooh, Dimitar Berbatov,
...He moves in his own way'

I thought that a song by the Fratellis (Chelsea Dagger) would fit berbetov exactly...not really many words tho:

the song goes: der de der der der de der etc

Berbetov's could go: berbetov berbetov berbetov etc or even dimitar dimitar dimitar etc

would only really work if you've heard the song.

how about bringing back the classic
"we'll take more care of you Archibald !!!"
" Archibald !!, Archibald!! "
it does work with Berbatov

To the tune of Jesus Christ Superstar, as already suggested:

Dimitar! Dimitar!
Down at the Lane you are a Superstar!

To the tune of "Light my fire"

Verse: He came from Bayer to the Lane
He's gonna cause the 'Scum' some pain
We can't wait to see him score
With opponents he will wipe the floor
Chorus: Come on Berby light our fire
Try to set the lane on fire
Come on Berby take us higher
Come on Berby light our fires

To the tune of Jesus Christ Superstar, as already suggested:

I think "star" rather than "superstar" works better.

Spurfect, long songs don't really go down well for some reason

I agree that the lyric needs some work, but surely the whole point of using that melody is to put Dimitar at the end of the first line.
I quite like Josh's amendment.

Incidentally, as most of the players seem to have nicknamed Aaron Lennon, Lenny - how about singing to the tune of the old theme song to The Lenny Henry Show -

Lenny, Lenny, Len...
Lenny, Lenny, Len...
Aaron Lennon Show...

Oh Berbatov is magic
His name we do not sing
He wonders why that is the case
Coz it don't fit into anything!
