Spurs star Paul Robinson thinks the club should focus on moving up the Premiership table rather than getting carried away with their European ambitions.
source - worldfootballers.com
Robinson, 27, said: "Our league form has been indifferent. We want to start picking up points and climb the table.
"We’re not a million miles away — we’re almost there — without stringing the few wins together to get up the table.
"You can’t rely on a cup run. There are three to be won but, if we don’t manage it, we’ve got to make sure we are back in Europe through the league."

That was awesome...
Have now harnessed it as my own life's ethos.

Stunning article?????
Anyway, I said it at the start of the season and nothing I have seen has changed my mind, we will finish in a CL spot this season, 3rd or 4th that is. The competition for those spots such as Bolton, Pompey and Villa will fall back and we will knock out either one of the goons or the scousers to get our place.

I think its funny that Defoe has scored one good goal in the league and he's being linked to Liverpool, Man Utd & others.

As it progresses to January they'll be saying stuff like 'and Defoe would relish the move to Man U/Liverpool due to his lack of first team starts' or something like that. Where of course Liverpool like to keep the starting XI and Ferguson will drop Saha the big, strong athletic spearhead for an offside prone midgit. Although having said that, Benitez will only keep a striker in his team if he can't score ala Crouch last year, Defoe will fit right in...

So how come nobody's giving Robinson a load of stick? When I said exactly the same thing the other week I got tons of abuse telling me I wasn't a true fan and didn't understand the club's "glory, glory" history and style.

Because I think we're all asleep from how boring it was reading what Robbo had to say. I wonder if he stayed up late thinking about that at night

Exactly? If it was exactly the same thing those responses wouldn't have made any sense.
Anyway maybe someone should tell Robbo that we're only as inconsistant as last year (when we were pretty inconsistant as usual). But he's right, we need to make sure we qualify.
The big question is would you take CL qualification over winning the Carling Cup? Me say yes

i don't think people really expect that much from these guys when it comes to insightful points of view.
we're the ones who are supposed to be able to string an argument together! :)

Of course, and that's exactly my point. But before I got a load of abuse telling me that if was far more glorious for Spurs to lift a trophy, whatever cup it was, than steadily improve in the Prem and eventually get into the CL.
Maybe someone should point out to Robbo that he's been the source of a fair bit of our indifferent form this season. Hands up whose heart rate doesn't leap every time the oppo line up a shot from outside the box or whip in a cross? He's giving me palpitations and I'm only watching, imagine what it does to the confidence of his defenders.

Imagine how his heart rate goes up when he sees someone lining up a shot from long shot and there isn't a player in a white shirt around him for 10 yards!

I think now is the timne to start lining up Robbo as our next manager. With that kind of strategic analytical thinking we couldn't go wrong...
More seriously I think the critiscm of his performances above is unjustified. I think he is actually playing better than he did towards the end of last seasdon and in the World Cup.
Against Wigan last week he came out and plucked a few crosses from the air in a way I don't remember seeing him do before.
