Tottenham full-back Pascal Chimbonda could not hide his disappointment at Graham Poll’s decisions during the defeat to north London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Chimbonda was penalised for a trip on Tomas Rosicky just before the break as Gilberto doubled their lead from the penalty spot, although the France defender appeared to get a touch on the ball.

Gilberto scored another penalty in the second half after Jermaine Jenas had hauled down Robin van Persie after the Holland forward handled the ball.

“The decisions were very hard to take for the team,” said Chimbonda.

“The first penalty I won the ball. Everyone saw on the TV afterwards that I got the ball first and then Rosicky fell. It wasn’t a penalty.

“The lead up to the second penalty Van Persie controlled the ball with his hand. I don’t think the referee had a good game which was very disappointing for the team.”

Emmanuel Adebayor’s opener had looked offside but Chimbonda admitted he was a fraction late in pushing up with his centre-backs.

“We are finding it very hard to play away and I don’t know why,” said Chimbonda, a summer signing from Wigan. “If we played the same as we do at home we would have a lot more points.

“We need to improve for the rest of the season.”

we weren't doing too badly until that second goal went in then we seemed demoralised. it's hard enough playing away from home against a top team without having the ref on their side.

At least he was big enough to admit he was slow in pushing out.

Without being too picky the first goal scored by them was Berbatovs fault.

Berbatovs embarrasingly weak attempt to hold up the ball was easily stopped and the following pass was put through to their man up front and the rest is history.

Berbatov is a joy to watch on his day but unless he shows more fire in his belly on league match days he ain't gonna achive as much here as he could. He wasn't the worst player on show for us by a long way but still, he has to toughen up a bit.

The decisions may have been hard to take for the team Pascal old buddy, however the appropriate response in such a situation is to show the world how big your balls are, to be first to every ball, chase every lost cause, fight and bitch and scrap and use every ounce of your talent and strength to win.
However, the gutless display we got would have shamed a pub side. Had I gone out to G.A.Y. at the weekend and picked out the most effeminate queens I could find they would have shown more fight.
In conclusion, you're welcome to think what you like about the referee's decisions, however, you have no justification whatsoever to believe that they influenced the result in any appreciable manner because on the balance of play the result was precisely what you deserved. Had you competed in any way you could be justified in complaining.

How about we put the first team's pay cheques on a table in the centre circle five minutes before the Middlesbrough match and see how many of the team dare to come out to collect them?

Clearly you have not lived in a 'Gayborhood'.. as I used to. I'll take the bet on a drag queen in a street fight over most any random selected citizen. Some of those queens are 6'5, muscular and could probably take on a crew of punters.

Chimbonda has been massive so far, especially in crucial games like the Chelski encounter, so he should be cut the most slack of all the players on the pitch that sorry Sat afternoon. It's really amazing, but he was the signing I had the least hope for. "A swallow doesn't make a summer", hopefully in this case.

"I don’t think the referee had a good game which was very disappointing for the team.”

How any of our players can accuse anyone else of having a bad game is beyond me. Try swapping "Referee" for "Spurs" and "Team" for "Fans" !!

I am sure Chelsea feel the same way. What goes around....

did anyone else love the fact that Jol didnt turn around and slag off the ref for getting TWO! penalties wrong and saying, correctly, that although the pens didnt help, Spurs were rubbish and deserved to lose...
Could you imagine Wengers tirade of vitriolic bollocks if those decisions had gone against the Arse...or Mourinho's or Fergie's?

Jol has class and is crafting a great side. I think people forget that we were always much fresher than everyone else last season because we had, embarrasingly, the shortest season in premiership history. Considering we have now played as many games as anyone, i think our squad is doing pretty well. Need to be more consistent in the league though, but i think thats coming.
