PORTSMOUTH'S Kevin-Prince Boateng has been fined £50,000 for 13 counts of criminal damage back home in Berlin.

The German Under-21 midfielder was arrested last March after a number of parked cars were damaged in a drunken late-night spree.

Witnesses alleged Boateng 22, who was on loan to Borussia Dortmund from Spurs at the time, and former Hertha Berlin team-mate Patrick Ebert damaged paintwork and ripped wing mirrors from the cars.

White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp sold the player to Pompey in August for £4million.

And Redknapp recently admitted: "I didn't know much about Boateng when I arrived at Tottenham but I was listening to what other people were telling me about his character and the way he behaved off the field.

"And to be honest they weren't painting a very good picture of him.

"He was in a rut and maybe getting mixed up with the wrong people.

"So I ended up asking myself 'Do I need him around him here if it's true what people are saying about him?'"

Boateng, started just seven Premier League games for Spurs after signing for Martin Jol for £4.5m from Hertha Berlin in 2007.

And he played less than half an hour for Redknapp before being loaned to Dortmund.

Boateng has 14 days to appeal against the conviction but at least he now has the funds to pay his fine after Pompey finally paid the players' wages for January yesterday.

And he has been joined at the Premier League's crisis club by former Spurs team-mate Ricardo Rocha, who has signed until the end of the season as a defensive replacement for Younes Kaboul.

Portuguese ace Rocha, 31, spent 2½ years at White Hart Lane but was released last summer.

He has been allowed to sign outside the transfer window because he is a free agent after his contract was terminated by Belgain club Standard Liege.

He has played very well for Portsmouth and he played well against us. Wouldn't have minded him coming back with Kaboul to back up Palacios in midfield.

Agree on his day he is a good player just a little immature. Needs to beef up mentally. If Bentley can turn it around with enforced application so can Prince.:hump:

He's a very good player. He has the potential to an excellent player. I'd rather have Boateng than Jenas.

He played 3 good games for Portsmouth when he had the 'new club, must try harder' mentality. Since then he has been disgusting, even jeered by the crowd in the last game for constantly shooting from 45 yards every time he got the ball.

We should bring him back

I would put money on him coming back in the summer.

Harry has since said (regardless of the quotes in this story) that he might of been wrong to get rid of him and listen to other peoples views on him

So look out for a nice £5m bid in the summer!
