Jake Livermore helped Peterborough United to a much-needed win in the Championship on Saturday.

The central midfielder played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win against QPR at London Road. It was Jim Gannon's first game in charge after taking over from Mark Cooper and leaves Posh - beaten 4-0 at the Lane in the FA Cup - nine points adrift of safety.

Kyle Naughton made his debut for Middlesbrough and played 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town.

In League One, Andros Towsnend opened his account for MK Dons with a fine goal in a 3-1 win at Stockport. Andros played a one-two with Aaron Wilbraham, turned onto his left foot and curled into the corner from 16 yards.

Steven Caulker completed another 90 minutes as Yeovil recorded a 4-1 win at Wycombe. Jon Obika came on in the 73rd minute.

In League Two, David Button kept another clean sheet as Shrewsbury stayed in the promotion hunt with a 1-0 win at Macclesfield.

After two substitute appearances, Sam Cox made his first start for Torquay alongside Adam Smith. The pair played right and left-back and both completed 90-minute shifts as the Gulls went down 1-0 at Hereford.

Of our more senior players on loan, Robbie Keane scored his first goal for Celtic in a 4-2 Scottish Cup win at Dunfermline.

Jamie O'Hara played 75 minutes as Portsmouth lost 5-0 at Manchester United in the Premier League, while Alan Hutton made his debut for Sunderland in a 1-1 draw against Wigan.

In Turkey, Giovani played 86 minute of Galatasaray's 0-0 draw at Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig. That was a decent away point against the team currently in third place, not least as leader Fenerbahce were held to a 1-1 draw at home to 13th-place Diyarbakirspor. Fenerbahce top the table by a point after 20 games.

Where will O'Hara go after Pompey are relegated? I think Wigan would be a good option, with Martinez at the helm. They haven't replaced Cattermole effectively yet.

Galatasaray had none of the usual strikers available for this game (Jo out for 3 weeks in his 2nd match for Gala) and Giovani was asked to play the main striker. Gala did not play very well by all accounts and lacked good service/fluency in attack. Gio did not pull any trees either, although did put in good effort and showed skill and pace.

He is obviously much more suited to being an attacking midfielder or a support striker. Btw, in his first 2 games he was playing in the left winger position.
So far, he played in all 3 games within 10 days of his arrival in Turkey - 20 min in first game and large part of the 90 min in the 2nd and 3rd games. Not much time to get drunk between the matches, unless Rijkaard just plays Gio whatever his application is...

Good to see most of the boys on loan starting and finishing games, shows they have a decent chance of making a good career for themselves. Not sure how many (if any) will do that at Spurs, my guess is that Andros Townsend is the only real possability.

Button is a real fans favourite at Shrewsbury, just voted joint player of the month for January. Watched him against barney last night. While he did not have a lot to do what he did do he did well, big lad commands the area well and talks a lot to the players..... Looks a real prospect!

Thank you. I would be worried if I got anything remotely complimentary from a lobotomised specimen. Eek
