I'm not here to impress Redknapp, insists Celtic striker.
Robbie Keane says he has nothing to prove to Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.
The Republic of Ireland striker was shipped out on loan to Celtic during the transfer window, having seen his first-team chances limited at Tottenham.
He ruled out the chance of his spell in Scotland leading to a permanent move but he also made the point that he does need to use the time to show Redknapp what he is capable of.
"I'm not here to show anyone anything," he told Sky Sports.
"People know what kind of player I am, they know what I am capable of. I love playing games, that's why I am here, to get a few good months under my belt and get my head down.
"If you ask any player, he wants to play and be involved - that's the way people are and the way players are - but it wasn't to be."
Keane made his Celtic debut in the 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock last Tuesday and came off the bench to open his Hoops account in Sunday's Scottish Cup fifth-round victory at Dunfermline.
He refused to criticise Redknapp, who clearly prefers Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch as his front pairing, but admitted it was hard sitting on the sidelines.
"I'm not the sort of person to sit on the bench and get my money, I like to play," he said.
"I don't want to wake up on Saturday morning knowing I am not playing, that come three o'clock I will be on the bench.
"It's very difficult for people to get up for games knowing you're on the bench. It's the same for any player."
In a full-length interview with Sky Sports' David Tanner, Keane also spoke frankly on:
THE TOP FOUR - and how he thinks Spurs have the players to finish in the Champions League places
THE NUMBER SEVEN - how is proud to follow in the footsteps of Henrik Larsson and Kenny Dalglish
THE OLD FIRM - his own personal experiences of the biggest game in Scottish football
THE SPL TITLE - how he believes Celtic can still catch Rangers.
