Spurs boss and Foxes chairman face tax evasion charge/
Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric have been released on unconditional bail after being charged with tax evasion.
The pair were in court on Thursday as their cases were put before a judge for the first time.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Redknapp and current Leicester City chairman Mandaric are jointly accused of two counts of cheating the public revenue.
Both men were initially charged last month relating to their time with Portsmouth, but deny any wrong-doing.
They appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court, in central London, for the first hearing in the prosecution process.
Redknapp and Mandaric were freed on bail by District Judge Timothy Workman, with the case adjourned until 14th April.

seems like a decent enough excuse to me.
:)
but, if HR is "forced" to leave the club (and I can dream), who would we want to replace him?
right now i'd settle for a tactically inept mute. at least the peace and quiet would be a step in the right direction.

The man saved us from relegation last year and the first sticky patch he hits people want him out.
Quality.

True, but considering the budget and quality of players he was given by the board last January (primarily Palacios), players like Modric and Gomes getting much more accustomed to EPL, and the declining form of teams at the bottom - was it really such a miracle to "avoid" relegation last season? I think it was never a real danger after January.
This investigation and court case issue has always been a risk that Spurs club did not need, in truth. And it may have affected the manager and his coaches more than they wish to show. This is the reason FA decided not to stick with Venables and one of the real reasons they would not consider Harry for the National Team manager.
But of course it is too early to get Harry out. We have to give him another season. But will it be a season lost or gained?

Out please. The club doesn't need this kind of bad press.

At the time we were bottom of the league I saw a stat which I can't recall word for word but was something like only one team with that amount of points after that amount of games had ever avoided relegation. Looking back, I was pretty much convinced were were doomed. I think he did pretty well to get us not only safe, but to the point where one or two results going our way would have seen us in europe. Yes, we spent a lot of money but he still had to do the job and put right more than we are probably aware of.
Performances like last night are thankfully getting fewer and further in between when previously they were almost the norm and by and large we're playing pretty well. IMO a lot of our frustration is brought about by our putting in some decent performances but not getting the results to match. I hope that given time, that will be corrected.
As you say, it's too early to get Harry out, much too early in my opinion and I wouldn't particularly see it as a season wasted, perhaps a bit of stability in the bank might actually do us some good. (For an example of what I would call a 'wasted' season i'd look at Pleat's tenure before we appointed Santini, I begrudged every penny I paid for my season ticket that year )
I just don't get why some people want rid after such a short time, perhaps those who do weren't enamoured by his appointment in the first place but whatever the reason, IMO a large part of the 'problem' at Spurs is the farcical managerial hokey-cokey we seem to want to put ourselves through every 18 months.
harry has been a revelation. most people including myself expected us to get relegated and definately didn't expect to be fighting for CL places the following season. stop thinking we are better than we are and accept that we have to start grafting (probably what harry said to bentley too)

A little bit of ITK for you, Levy very unhappy and now has this up his sleeve if things don't improve.

I don't expect you to reveal your source (But you can by PM if you like:wink:) but that would surprise me given that Levy would have been well aware of this situation, or at least the facts behind it, when he appointed him.

HR will never get us CL football (my opinion). He knows how to avoid relegation, most of the time anyway, but I reckon my nan could've kept us up last year what with her knowing how to speak English and all. He's what, 63? By the time he figures out how to get into the top 4 we'll be wheeling him out.

A bit surprising at this stage. But then Levy has shown that he is not afraid to take decisive action before it may be too late in his opinion. So I guess this may be plausible. I also guess Harry may get a hint of unhappiness from Levy or Levy's people soon, especially added to results like last Saturday and the run of 1 win and 3 goals in 6 matches.
