Roman Pavlyuchenko could be set to end his disappointing spell at Tottenham Hotspur by joining Lokomotiv Moscow.
The Russia international made no secret of his desire to return to his homeland during the January transfer window, when Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was happy to listen to offers.
However, it is rumoured Redknapp is again prepared to consider bids for the 28-year-old as he looks to raise funds for a major summer spending spree.
And according to the Mirror, Lokomotiv Moscow are now prepared to make a serious offer for Pavlyuchenko.
The Russian club's coach Yuri Semin described the striker as a European-level star and added: "In my opinion he would become a serious reinforcement for Lokomotiv as well as for the Russian premiership as a whole."
Reports linking Pavlyuchenko with a move away from White Hart Lane come amid speculation suggesting Redknapp will allow Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas to leave Spurs if the right offer comes in.

crappy article, There's no way Harry was listening to offers or considering bids in Jan, if he was then Keane wouldn't have gone out on loan as that would have left us 2 strikers... however it wouldn't surprise me if he did get sold this summer though.

Rumours at the time suggested Harry pulled the plug on a near the deadline day deal to take Pav back to Russia.
Can see Pav staying. Looks like Jenas and Keano will definitely be out the door though.
I'm 50/50 on Pav staying, if he does stay I think he'll do ok, and if he leaves I'll wish him all the best and thank him for the goals he scored that got our second half of the season on track! He was a major part of getting us to where we finished.

Im undecided as to whether we need a buy a big star striker next year or not. The team seem happy, and the current forwards have done quite well, who`s says what they might do between them next year. Reward them for last season and give them a chance I say

On their day our strikers are all great, but over the course of a season all proved to be extremely inconsistent. So with that evidence in mind we definitely need a 'big star striker', especially if we want to compete in the Champions League. We just can't afford not to improve our team, because this is our chance to step up and become a great side again.

Edin Dzeko please... Coupled with a back-up keeper and Sandro to help beef up the midfield - Job Done!!!

I'd like to see him stay. I think he has shown enough and i reckon european football would suit him perfectly.

Ha! Lord I hope your name is not Daniel Levy!!
Points:
1) We will be playing a dramatically different and more difficult schedule next year (provided we qualify)
2) we barely scraped into the 4th spot this year, as it is.
Now granted we had some injuries, but I would suggest unless you are happy to have had this one 4th place finish, and are content to saved that experience in the time capsule at the top of your neck as Spurs scramble back down to the middle of the table, I think we will want to look to make adjustments.
Even, standing champions look to make improvements in the off season. to do so otherwise is suicide.
On Pav - he clearly has great talent as a scorer, but he simply does not appear comfortable on the ball and his control is not there. He is fine to have on the squad, but as our 'star' striker... no. None of our strikers had perfect seasons.

i know where you're coming from Boony, but I think this is the difference between the big time and the consistant big time. Look at Drogba / Rooney / Ronaldo / Messi / . The teams they play for are all consistently in the top tier and they themselves consistently score 20+ league goals. personally I think we need that kind of hit man.

Name a few for us.
Seriously, the fella was in the top 3/4 left backs in England last season.

If we are to keep improving we need to bring in 3-4 players who can walk into the squad to push for top 4 again, i had all the time in the world for Ekotto but towards the second half of the season he lost me when he fought with Corluka, gave away cheap pens and a lot of the time plays to loose on his man.
I like the sound of this Turkish player from Galatasaray on the LW with Bale slotting in at LB and Ekotto providing Bale cover or challenge.
Christian Pander would be a nice nab.

Ditto to all that! All our strikers are inconsistent! Defoe is a flat track bully, Keane past his best, Crouch a very average player (but good for the bench) and Pav great but drifts in and out of form and games! We definately need a world class striker who will be the number 1! I can only think 3 who fit the bill we may get, Dzeko, Suarez or Hunterlaar, with the latter some form to regain!!

Agree with the 3 to 4 players but, as David Matzdorf has already said here, it was our defense that helped us get 4th this year. Despite the odd rash challenge inside the box and the Corluka incident, Ekotto was good for us this year on the whole.
If we can get Joe Cole on a free then Bale can go LB with Ekotto as back-up. Bale and JC overlapping sounds like it could work well in theory. Bale is also there pushing JC for a start at LM. Job done on two fronts.
Again, backing up DM, I also think we need at least two new strikers. I think we've outgrown Keano and Pav just doesn't do quite enough. Yep, without his goals this season we wouldn't have made 4th but that was when he had something to prove. He was quite terrible towards the end of the season; lacked passion, no touch, weak, lacked intelligent movement.
He might well suit the European football but he can't hack the Premier League and although our priorities next season have to be getting to the group stages of the CL, finishing 4th again and winning a cup if possible, maybe someone better suited to all 3 will come up if we can get a decent price for him.
Also, Defoe did little to impress in the latter months of the season ('that pass' aside) - and this was with him pushing for a place in Capello's England squad too. What more motivation do you need? He just can't seem to make himself the space on the edge of the box that he used to ... without falling over.
I can't see it happening because we know he's a team favourite but we must be able to get someone with a higher goal-to-game ratio in, again providing we get a good price for him.
