View Full Version : New deal for Ledley
Source: Official Site
The Club is delighted to announce that Ledley King has signed a new contract that will see him at White Hart Lane until 2012.
Our Club captain, currently preparing to head off on England duty after being named in the provisional squad for the World Cup finals in South Africa, began his career at the Club having graduated through our Academy and turned professional in July 1998.
The 29-year-old has since made 290 First Team appearances in our colours and was skipper of the side that won the Carling Cup in 2008 and reached the final the following year. His 20 appearances this season helped steer the team towards a highest Premier League finish and a Champions League qualification tie at the beginning of next season.
Ledley said: "I am delighted to have signed a new contract with Spurs.
I have been here since I was a schoolboy and I could never see myself going anywhere else. This is where I want to continue playing my football.
"We've got the prospect of Champions League football to look forward to next season and with the quality of players we have I believe we are on the brink of something big.
"It is an exciting time for the Club with a new training ground being built and plans for a new stadium.
"I am enjoying my football and I want to be a part of what is happening here."

am so happy...for both ledley and the club. he obviously can't play the amount of games he (or we) would like to but am delighted he's going to seemingly end his career with spurs. absolute legend in my book.

Unlike some greedy bastards. I bet Ledley's salary demands were never a problem.

Ledley has restored my faith in some players, after the saga many years ago with the traitor, it shows some players do have loyalty to our club. They brought him through the ranks, looked after him and helped to make him the player he is today.
Long live the King!

It will simply depend on his fitness, who the opposition is and whether it's a home or away match!

Great news! King following in the footsteps of Perryman & Mabbutt as a legendary defender.

Levy deserves our thanks and appreciation for giving one of Spurs legends his dues.Maybe the frail state of King's health ia academic right now ,but King was a clutch player in Spurs attainment of CL status this season.Spurs will always be the richer with King on the pitch.

During the season I must admit that at times I thought we should be looking for that key defender so Ledders could be allowed to go gracefully into retirement. But then there were the times when he was fit enough to play and I realised again and again - there is no ready replacement for our Ledley. No matter how many matches we get to use him in our prospects of winning those games increase. Not only does his play exude sheer class but he inspires those around him. I believe it is through playing often with Ledley that Michael Dawson has himself become a strong leader. Thanks for everything Ledley!
