The agent of Eidur Gudjohnsen has told Sport.co.uk in an exclusive interview that the former Chelsea and Barcelona star is keen to stay at Tottenham Hotspur next season amid speculation this morning that Aston Villa are interested in signing the Icelandic international.

Gudjohnsen, who has played for three Premier League clubs, Bolton, Chelsea, and Spurs, hasimpressed since moving on loan in January from French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. However having finished his spell at White Hart Lane the Icelander's form has reportedly interested Martin O’Neill’s Aston Villa who has been tipped to challenge Harry Redknapp for the player's services next season.

The 32-year-old scored two goals on his loan spell with the North London club making 11 appearances, and was praised by Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp for his adept link up play. Despite the interest emanating from Aston Villa, and the prospect of joining up with the likes of Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey, Gudjohnsen's father and agent Arnor told sport.co.uk:

“Well it is difficult to make a clear comment at the moment. Firstly, they want to keep him [Eidur Gudjohnsen] at Tottenham Hotpsur. I saw the [Aston] Villa speculation but I haven’t heard from them to be honest.

“He has enjoyed it under the manager. It was difficult for Eidur to come in to the club in the middle of the season, so I think he would like to have a good pre-season with the club and then play a full season with the club.

“I don’t know exactly what type of deal Eidur would sign, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a one-year loan deal. But you never know, this has not been decided.”

May be difficult him staying with Keane coming back, can't see Harry having 5 strikers next season.

It's like going spelunking, and finding oil, gold, and Mothra! What a prospect(or).

Gud>Keane for me. Sign him up, and bring in a top quality number 9. Sell Keane and Pav.

Good night, much love.

Keane has to be sold this summer. There's no space for him in the team with Defoe and we've just had our most successful PL season without him playing any real part for us. His value is still strong enough for us to sell now and it make sense for all parties.

Ive always like Gudjohnsen and would rather have him then Keane...Keane has been a loyal servant to the club but since Liverpool has obviously lost alot of the Keane/Berba finess (sp?)...unless of course he has a blinding pre-season!

Also, Gudjohnsen has some vital CL experience that is required to keep the rest of the squad going. Yes, he may not be in the starting XI all the time but from what Ive heard he's a well respected player in the dressing room and the experience and respect for him is sometimes what is needed in some of the potentially daunting fixtures they could face.

I think Keane will be back and will be top drawer once again.

(Ok, I just said that to be different)

Would be a gud addition to the squad, I hope we do sign him. As others have mentioned he has the CL experience.

Dzeko, Defoe, Gud, Crouch. I'd be delighted if that was our strikeforce next season.

I do love Pav but he's too good to settle for a rotational role.I do want us to get rid of Crouch, and keep Pav, while we can still get a decent amount for him but it's not gonna happen lol.

I don't think there are nearly enough goals in your selection 'Jimmy...'

Now that we have learn't how to defend we don't need so many 'pointless' goals.
The midfield at the end of the season seemed to have taken on the goal-scoring role too even without Kranjcar our most prolific midfielder.

Scoring nine against Wigan is silly if we can't score a couple against Wolves.
Let's have a bit more focus and clinicalism rather than flamboyant scoring when the other team have already showered and changed.

With good support I think that Doyle could score 15 per season. Similarly Pav. and Defoe should get 20.

It won't happen of course so stand by for more rumours and exotic links.
Crouch will almost certainly stay, Pav and Keane will probably go.
