Ledley King heaped praise on Sebastien Bassong after his performances this season - and insists he'll get better and better. The Cameroon international started 25 matches in the Premier League and 35 out of 50 in all competitions as Ledley, Michael Dawson and Jonathan Woodgate all encountered injury problems at some stage of the season. Indeed, a groin problem restricted 'Woody' to only three appearances.
Seb kicked-off the campaign alongside Ledley as Michael recovered from an Achilles problem - he memorably scored a debut winner in the opener against Liverpool - and started 17 of our first 19 matches.
He later spent the best part of two months partnering Michael between February and April after Ledley suffered a groin injury.
With a lot of the focus on the outstanding form of Ledley and Michael Dawson at the end of the season, the skipper is keen to highlight Seb's considerable contribution.
"At the beginning of the season myself and 'Bass' were playing together and he's been brilliant," said Ledley.
"Every time he's played he's performed well. He's a top player and it's his first season here, so I expect him to get better and better.
"That's the good thing about this season. It was a squad effort, everyone has played their part and no-one has let the team down."
Like Ledley and 'Daws' with England, Seb is currently with Cameroon's provisional 30-man squad preparing for the World Cup.
