Tottenham are reportedly interested in securing the services of Germany international Marko Marin.

The young winger is understood to be high on manager Harry Redknapp's wish list as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the club's Champion's League campaign next season, according to caughtoffside.com.

Marin, who is Yugoslavian born, currently plays his football for Werder Bremen and is understood to be happy there.

However, Tottenham's recent rise in stature could be enough to lure the young talent, particularly with the White Hart lane club now involved in Europe's premier club competition.

It is estimated that Harry Redknapp would have to spend in the region of £14 million to secure the services of the player.

Germany slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Serbia this week, a shock result following their comprehensive demolition of Australia in their opening game. They currently sit top of group D on the same points as Ghana and Serbia.

There are a number of Tottenham players representing their country at the World Cup, with England boasting five players in total – Ledley King, Michael Dawson, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon.

Both England and Marin's Germany next play on Wednesday.

You cant say its 'not going to happen' for the reasons you state, Its not really up to him is it, Bremen might be happy to make a quick profit on him. It wouldnt be the first time a club has done it.

Ozil is far better than Marin and is likely to be the first one to leave Werder soon - and after that Werder will do everything possible to keep Marin there for another season at least.

Saying that, Marin was a big disappointment in the World Cup so far, especially after he replaced Ozil in the Serbia game. Seems too eager to impress and just too lightweight at the highest level. His readiness to dive under a mere hint of a challenge near a penalty area is very annoying too.

I used to live near Bremen. I went to a few of their games and once took in a training session. The Werder players practised diving which initially, I presume, was in order to avert injury from tackles. So anyway, little has changed!

It wouldn't be the 1st diving German we employed.

If he could replicate Kinglman, we would complaint to much.

no, you are right, but i was going along the lines of bremen not wanting to sell him either. the point made later about özil is good too. if they were to lose both they'd be in trouble.
