Italian side Genoa have made Tottenham's Giovani Dos Santos one of their summer transfer targets.
21-year-old Dos Santos has failed to make an impression at Tottenham since his transfer from Barcelona in 2008 and has been on loan at Galatasaray for the past six months. However, the attacking midfielder has been one Mexico's best players during the World Cup so far.
Other European sides such as Benfica have also reportedly expressed an interest in Dos Santos. However, Genoa have now confirmed that they are keen to sign the talented Mexican. According to Mexican website, El Llamado Del Futbol, Genoa president Enrico Preziosi said over the weekend that Dos Santos is one of his transfer targets.
It had been thought that Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp may look to keep Dos Santos in order to strengthen his squad ahead of a maiden Champions League campaign.
However, given the clear interest in Dos Santos, Spurs could look to use the Mexican's impressive showing so far in South Africa to cash in on a player who has failed to settle at White Hart Lane.

Really hope he stays and he finds his own little niche in a robbie keane type of role, otherwise i cant see how a player of his type is going to fit into our team- great player but maybe not a premiere league player (unless its for the french down the road)

Unconvinced that Milito would have been a success at Spurs, you need to shape your formation around him as Mourinho did last season, i doubt we'd have been able to do this, as we couldn't manage it for Bent, who needs a similar formation around him to be at his best.

I cant understand how Dos Santos can be one of the players of the tournment
but cant even make our bench or why Wayne Rooney rips premiership defenders apart
but cant get a sniff in WC ?

Perhaps even more impressive than his customary high pace runs at defenders and link up play in attack was his willingness to help out in defence, often tracking back at great speed 30-40 yards from an advanced position to dispossess an opposition player and stop an opponent's attack from developing further.
As I said on another thread, he is makng a mockery of half-baked doctored rumours about his poor attitude to training and lack of hard work ethics.

U R 1000% right.....................................
he can be cover (or replacement) for defoe, lennon or modrich.........
my theory is that while Harry can handle older and middle-football aged non-Englishmen (like Di Canio, Modrich, Cornluka), he can't handle non-englishmen who are under 20 (Taarbat, Dos Santos and Bale up till January 2010)!!!!

Good take him, cash in on him as he is not good enough for premier league football. Playes well for Mexico but week in week out is a different matter.

This.
I was just about to post the exact same thing.

He doesn't even look fit to me otherwise i'd agree. Plus you have all the other shenanigans that are going on what ever they truely are. One thing's for sure. This isn't the real Wayne Rooney we're seeing.
What do you lot reckon Dos Santos is worth anyway now? Let's hope he continues to play well and Mexico go a long way eh?

The 1st time dos Santos played a good side, he was locked down by the decent Fucile, who is plying his trade in Portugal. That should tell you all you need to know about why we are trying to sell Drunky McTequillaShot. If being okay for a half against South Africa and performing just like everybody else this tournament against Les Idiots is people's bar of excellence, then I would suggest picking the bar off the ground and suspending it at least somewhere off the ground.

This is simply not accurate and just panders to your - and some others' - preconceptions. Fucile is indeed quite a good defender, but he was in trouble several times when Gio ran at him and past him, having to foul Gio more than once in the process (quite crudely at times).
You chose to ignore that until about 65th minute Gio had a 37-year old Blanco and a 33-year old West Ham reject Franco for partners in attack. There was not much chance they would have caught up with him if he played fast and direct football, so he had to slow the play down and Uruguay defenders are just too good to break down like that.
Oh and BTW, if you talk about the standards of opposition, let me remind you that Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard etc were worse than GDS against a team like Algeria and not much better against USA - I guess these two teams are supposed to be much higher rated in your eyes than France and the hosts, South Africa.
I am not 100 % sure England would have beaten France 2-0 in their second match here.
