Ledley King is back in the frame for England's huge World Cup last 16 clash against Germany on Sunday.

Our skipper and central defender trained again with the squad in South Africa on Saturday after recovering from a groin problem sustained in the opener against the USA on June 12.

Fabio Capello admits he now has a tough choice who to partner John Terry between Ledley, who started the tournament, Jamie Carragher, who came on as substitute for him against the US and Matthew Upson, who partnered Terry in the key win against Slovenia. Michael Dawson is also available.

Capello said: "Ledley was training normally with the other players. I'm really happy.

"I will have to decide the player who plays with John Terry. Upson, Carragher and King have played well but I have to choose."

Jermain Defoe is expected to hold onto his starting place after scoring the winner against Slovenia on Wednesday. Aaron Lenon and Peter Crouch are also fighting for a starting place.

Heurelho Gomes was on the bench again as Brazil completed their group with a 0-0 draw against Portugal in Durban on Friday.

The goalkeeper would have been ready for action when first-choice Julio Cesar picked up an injury in the second half, but the Inter Milan star continued after lengthy treatment.

Meanwhile, Wilson Palacios and Honduras bowed out of the World Cup with a point on Friday.

The midfielder played another 90-minute shift as his side fought out a goalless draw against Switzerland.

That restored some pride after two defeats and meant Switzerland - who needed to win 2-0 to progress - lost out to Chile. Spain won the group.

Your "having to choose" is a no-brainer Fabio...start Ledley!

Upson was brilliant, i'd stick with him and Terry for this one.

Wish we'd sign Upson tbh.

Originally, King was in the squad as the understudy for Ferdinand or Terry, and his most likely role was to step in if either Ferdinand or Terry picked up a booking.

Upson did enough on Wednesday to earn a starting position (though the subsequent hype about the team's improved performance has been stomach-turning), and King should revert to being first choice cover.

It's good for team morale, provides continuity, and protects Ledley's knees (and groin) for another occasion.

I don't, he is not as proactive as the likes of Dawson, partly because Dawson is far superior Aerially.

Terry's Dawson'esque block came off of Upson getting beat in the air...

Upson is not a natural footballer, he is good in the air, but his lack of pace and football defending do not match those of King, or Dawson. So I would not like to see Upson at White Hart Lane. another Tony Gardner, except without pace
