The Beckham rumors, lets play THREE Beckhams

We already have two players said to be Becks England heir apparent:

Lennon was two years ago and Bentley was a year ago before coming to us. And now, we are being linked to Golden Balls again.

Harry has already said in Dec he would like to have Becks. And Capello said Becks needs to be anywhere BUT America if he is to be in the WC squad.

I reckon playing 3 Becks in the same team will actually work.

Why? Because our strikers are un pairable. We have 3 like for likes (GDS, Defoe and Keane) and 2 misfits in Pav and Bent (good players but not in our squad due to an undertsanding/click issue.

Bent was best at his previosu club where he played mostly on his own up front. And that was when he was a 25+ a season man with a SHITE team behind him.

Becks will cure two HUGE holes in out game: Corners + set peices.

Look at that 5 man midfield. Who is the danger man managers will be telling the opposition to watch? ALL OF THEM. :beer:

Becks on a free > Crouch for 13 million if you ask me.

Now a serious answer.

We know Becks cant run or cover (esp for 90 mins) so this would leave Wilson to do a massive job every game - UNLESS Bentley really raises his game and covers. I Do not think he is capable of doing this. So we'd be very exposed in this area.

Now putting Becks as a sweeper! This I think is where he would be most effective.

Why not hey....the boost he would probably give the club in the final half of the season would be good in my opinion.

It got kinda skewed a little. Lennon is more an attacking M/F more to the right. So Lennon and Bentley should be closer because we have to defend in numbers rather than rely on them to defend a lot of the pitch.

Interesting idea, but for £125k a week I'd rather sign 2-3 players that we need rather than trying to fit him into a team.

After all, you could effectively play the same formation, but with GDS, Defoe, Taarabt instead of Lennon, Lennon instead of Bentley, Bentley instead of Becks. Or simply play Hudd in the "quarterback" role instead of Becks.

I'm not against the idea per se, but he played exceptionally well for England in the sweeper roll against Andorra. Tottenham won't play West Ham every week :lol:

I think Modric has to stay left just because of how effective he was there. Not only did he fill the gap, but he was pretty bloody great there too.

The reason I think this would work, and why we will be top 5 this year:

People like Bentley, Hud, Bent, Becks, Lenoon, JJ etc etc etc are all going to be playing their arses off this season because they all desperatley want to be in the world cup.

We have more FRINGE England players than any other team. And the carrott of the WC is going to work wonders on them.

Lennons pace can be utilised anywhere up front. Pace is pace, afterall. Plus his left foot is generally as good as his right, if not preferred when he shoots and crosses. That would allow Bentley to play on the right and hopefully recapture some Blackburn form.

Then you have Modric in the middle creating opportunitys for everyone and Palacios generally doing Palaciosesque duties. It's a dream formation for me.

No room for Jenas, which is a shame.

I am pretty sure we would need JJ for away games probably at the expense of Bentley.
