does anyone here follow any college football......we get okay coverage of it here in australia and i mildly followed it last season but i decided i am gonna get into it this coming season.

The games certainly seem to be more exciting and the offenses try more creative plays than in the NFL. The support some of the teams get is crazy. Just trying to get my head around how it all works. The ranking system seems to be a very flaky way of doing things.

i follow college football religiously too. went to Iowa for grad school so i am loyal to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

BCS rankings are rubbish. they should consider a playoff system like the NFL.

I am considering going to college in the states next year, its just a very complicated process for international students who arent transferring from other uni's.....

The thing is I can see the value of having a ranking system if they could come up with a fair and consistent way of doing it, as it gives a level of importance to just about every regular season game. But from what I see good teams seem to miss out on the big bowl games on a regular basis.

I am deciding on a college team to support from now on......tossing up between Auburn and Clemson....thoughts? I am leaning towards Auburn as they seem to be in a more exciting conference and they have an awesome rivalry.

In college football you see more of a European footy like crowd. Much more vibrant and loud over the entire game (probably because you have 30,000 college kids who've been drinking all morning). It can be really tough to get into, but its worth it.

I studied at the University of Illinois for on year, they are part of the Big Ten(which has more than 10 teams in the MidWest), their team is called the Fighting Illini. The University itself is situated between two small towns in Illinois called Champaign/Urbana, alot of locals as well as students go the games, we use to get just under 70,000 each game. Other teams in the BigTen have big stadiums, the stadium of Penn State holds 100,000. College football has all the future NFL stars.

If the game was at 11am, people started "pre-gaming" at 6am. It was alot of fun. :)

my boys Iowa are part of the Big 10 and I've been to Urbana-Champaign for a game before back in the fall of 1999.

Each player is available in turn, and everyone can bid to have them in their fantasy team. The highest bid wins.

However you only have like $200 budget, so you have to decide where to spend it carefully. Buying the top RB's can cost you maybe a quarter of your whole budget. And you still need to fill your roster.

It's definitely more fun than the standard system, and gives everyone a chance to get every player, just depends how badly they want them.

Never done an auction, but its a much more complex system and has more "skill" involved.

you do get an even shot at every player also!

I think darrkespur's idea is a goodie tho. Thinking of a couple of players to keep would be something good to think about over the next few days.

Or what about an auction this season, where we know before the draft that we can keep 2 of the players for the year after too?

I just did an auction draft wiht my mates on top of our regular draft in which we are in our 5th year. (getting a shield made for it lol).

the auction was a lot of fun but took up a LOT of time. we are talking a good few hours here.

I recommend Yahoo. I've used it for the past 4-5 years now and have never had a problem. Just had a draft with a few SC boys here and it went really well.

The only problem I've had doing auctions in the past is that one crazy guy gets AP for all of his cash, leaving the league unbalanced. That was with randoms though, so presumably with you lot it'll be more sensible....
