White Hart Lane - post Stratford...

I'd be all for a move to Stratford, if its the best option, if...

The cub retains a 'significant presence' at White Hart Lane after moving to Stratford. What is a significant presence?

A proposal would be something like - the club retain its headquarters and a proportion of the White Hart site as a club headquarters. Perhaps a reduced capacity stadium of around 4,000 as a b-team pitch on the current playing surface?

What about the remaining parts of the original site & the areas already purchaed for the original NLD? How about development into a 'THFC village' similar to the Library? Why not make the area arround WHL a desirable resitential project and use that to finance the transition from the current stadium into an integrated THFC headquarters, training/reserve pitch and resdential village?

In that kind of scenario - Tottenham Hotspur remain a Tottenham based club - they may play in a stadium elsewhere, but the club remain rooted at their place of origin.

The team bus would leave through the gates of Bill Nicholson Way - drive to the stadium and when the players ran on the pitch the crowd would sing...

"We are Tottenham, Super Tottenham, From the Lane!"

And you'd be stood in Stratford, and it'd feel ok - and you'd sing too.

I'd love to thee the NLD happen - but if we do move to Straford, what we do with the current site is crucial to the continued identity of our club.

We should just build an enormous cockerel where the stadium currently is. One that is big enough that we can see it from Stratford.

Theres a world of differece between moving to Stratford and simply selling off the land in Tottenham and whacking that toward the cost of a new stadium against investing in the old site and retaining a presence at White Hart Lane.

I'd hate to see ENIC take over Stratford - sell WHL - balance the books, offsetting WHL's sale against the Stratford project - then just sell up for a tidy profit.

On the other hand, teams like Inter and AC Milan both have "Club Headquarters" located away from the San Siro - if the Lane was carefully developed and turned into a significant and alasting existance at WHL, I could handle moving into 'Spanner Country' for matchdays - and we'd keep the name Tottenham Hotspur of course ;-)

.

Dont see the point in this. Our new training ground will have more than enough pitches for us to play on.

Whilst reading through the threads I have seen someone mention that it would be a good idea to have some sort of museum built when/if they knock WHL down.

I think it's a great idea, keeps the club linked to the area nicely.

If a gang repeatedly raped your sister it wouldn't make it any better if they sent her a bunch of flowers .

The Tottenham area is less than salubrious, so the removal of the football club is not going to make a huge difference, as the area is already a god forsaken ghetto at best.

We aren't going to do anything to it, bar selling it. This is Levy we're talking about. He doesn't do sentiment.

The value of the land apparently covers the cost of the modifications to the OS which is a pretty compelling argument to move.

You can say that again.

For the benefit of expats and northerns the latest fun and games from Tottenham is that a bunch of 14 year old gangstas beat up a mentally-ill man who then stabbed them.

The thing is Stratford isn't that much better. Can't we move to Wiltshire or something?

The smart thing to do would be to retain the land and develop it as housing and/or some kind of destination attraction. They would rent this out and retain ownership. In 200 years we could move back if we needed to and hopefully they'd have built a decent tube line by then (or built a teleportation device)

They were schoolkids, and the most anyone who wasn't there seems to know about it is that the bloke made some kind of approach to a girl as she and her friends were leaving school; the boys piled in to defend her, and some of them got stabbed, one fatally. The bloke may have been mentally ill, but I don't think it's been established as a fact, so can we leave this sort of shit out?

Maybe we could move to Cumbria. That's a nice quiet rural area where nothing violent happens.

Then again…

Jesus, how often does it have to be explained? There won't be a tube line out as far as the ground because there's no fucking need for one except on the occasions Spurs have home games. That means it isn't an economic proposition for the other 320+ days of the year.

Housing would be welcome, but destination attraction? Get fucking real.
