I really came round to the idea of the OS being the best option for the club having originally vehemently objected. I understand all the pros that OS would have brought and speaking from the head, it was the right move.

However, sometimes (perhaps most of the time) football isn't about using your head. It's about your heart. That's why we all fell in love with the game. It's good to have rationale thoughts behind decisions but at the end of the day we as fans think with our hearts.

Having been persuaded by Levy and co that the OS bid was right for us I found that my true feelings were revealed when I read half an hour ago that WHU had won. And it was a feeling of relief.

That was my heart coming through. I want, and have always wanted, to stay in Tottenham, it is our home, it is our history and now, hopefully it will remain our future.

I, for one, am glad we will remain in N17, I'm sure the NPD is viable and will go ahead as planned. Perhaps we would be better off financially (depending on how much you believe Levy) if we had moved but we would have lost our soul.

We are Tottenham, from the Lane

I know what you mean because I felt similar. My preference has always been to stay in Tottenham with the NDP but would have supported the move to Stratford if it was the only option.

Whilst i'm going to enjoy going to WHL for the foreseeable future, I fear we'll slowly see our competitors move ahead of us both financially and on the pitch. That's when i'm going to regret that we didn't get the OS. I really hope Levy has been bluffing about the NDP and that it is still viable.

The title of this thread is wrong, we won a reprieve to stay in Tottenham.

Well we had all better make the best of it. I sincerely hope all this crap chucked at Levy will stop now (though I know it won't).

The worry is that we'll now be bought out by a billionaire playboy - which I suspect some people will celebrate. I hope we resist and a few years down the track we find a way to do it on our own.

Last comment, please let's not moan when Modric and Bale have to be sold. Arsenal had to go down a decade of that kind of thing before they could afford their stadium. We're not big enough or rich enough in the current league to sustain CL footy year after year and hold onto our best players. We'll have to make up the difference by selling our superstars for tens of millions and reinvesting that money in hopefully purchasing the superstars of the future.

If true, expect a lengthy legal battle at vast expense that will leave us in limbo for years.

By definition, as you all know my view on this, I am happy it looks like we didn't win.

But, and this may surprise some, had we won then at least one way or t'other, the club would have moved forward, with or without me.

I just hope that if this is confirmed, Levy finds a way to make the NDP viable and gives it his 100% support.

In some ways I'll be glad this will be all over.

At £450m it's never going to be viable. Unless we get ourselves a sugar-daddy that is. I don't expect any legal battle. We may just decide to wait in the wings and see if West Ham go bust over the next couple of years.

I can say with a lot of confidence that under ENIC the NDP is dead in the water.

It is over, so you can relax :)

How can you be happy if that is the case? You baffle me. You clearly love the area tottenham more than you love the club tottenham.

Just to say, can we have no recriminations? The debates been quite heated at times but each side has had the best interests of the club they love at heart. And at the end of the day neither group made a jot of difference to the final decision so we don't need to beat each other up over it.

The last thing I want is the club to be in limbo. As I said, with me or without me, I want this club to be the best in the world.

I will happily invest £10,000 of my own money to make the NDP viable.

If enough people do the same, it could work.

If the club genuinely do read these message boards, issue preference shares at £10k a pop and I will subscribe to buy one.

Because had Paris won the Olympics, Stratford would never have been considered.

Sometimes, the more you have to fight for something, the greater the satisfaction is when you achieve what you want.

Shame, hopefully Levy was blagging when he said the NDP is dead in the water, but if he isn't I'd like to know who's going to pay for it.

But you were quite happy to chuck near-hysterical crap at Haringey Council, Lammy, CABE and English Heritage.

Were you against the Northumberland Park redevelopment plans?

Lammy is self-serving, opportunist.

Haringey have ploughed all their spare development money into the Tottenham Hale scheme. They had no intention of supporting the stadium development beyond sorting the planning for us. You can read all about it here: http://www.haringey.gov.uk/final_draft_lip_document.pdf

They even tried to get us to pay towards the Hale scheme as part of the NDP.

Their plan for Tottenham High Road was specifically not to compete with the Hale retail development. They have implemented a plan which restricts and limits transport on the high road (including road narrowing schemes, CPZs etc) to meet their emission targets for the borough (to compensate for the increased emissions at Hale) and to concentrate on promoting pedestrianism and create new "walk" routes in the area of the High Road.

Haringey have felt they can afford to do this because they had private a investor willing to do all the development for them (Spurs) and that that developer was inextricably linked to the area and desperately needed to grow so they would have to go ahead with it.

For the council it was win/win. Ignore the High Road area of Tottenham and let Spurs deal with that, and while we're holding that end of the load they could plough any spare funds into the Hale project.

If the NDP doesn't go ahead they also don't lose out, because at least we'll still there, contributing something to the economy and they can't get the blame for a private development not going ahead (especially when they granted the planning permission). The unconsidered and literally terrible for them scenario was Spurs moving out of the area, because in that case their master plan which saw all spare cash ploughed into the Hale would have backfired and their only subsequent option would have been to allow retailers into the High Road, to roll back on their transport reduction schemes and to set up a retail area competing with their plans for the Hale.

For the council and arguably local tax payers such as yourself it was a chance to have their cake and eat it, but for the club it was a right royal shafting.

As for CABE and the other Quangos, well they just wanted their piece of the hog. They had us in a fattening crate and with us having no where to go they felt comfortable carving us up between them.

Let me make it clear, all these bodies thought they were acting in the interests of their various constituents. But those interests were all at the expense of THFC.

As for you SS. I can quite understand how your divided loyalties can make it difficult to chose between the area you're devoted to and the club you love, but please understand that, with the greatest respect, I'm a Spurs supporter, the area comes a distant second for me, I don't really give a flying fuck about CABE, EH, Lammy or the council, I want what's best for the club.

I am glad a decision has/will be made. If we have lost, Levy's next step will be most interesting. Hopefully its jolted a few people into realising that Spurs are not something they can just bleed dry.

Hopefully all this has been part of a grand scheme to get Spurs the best deal, but that would be a bit too convenient

It's been refuted by the OPLC but I don't doubt it's true I've been saying West Ham would win it as it's the easy decision and nobody will have to face difficult questions.
It's not the best option for athletics, the country or London but it most certainly is best for West Ham in fact it's an absolute heaven sent opportunity for them and in ten years time when there has been little or no meaningful athletics events at the stadium the case for removing the track will have been made, ten years after and the Olympics will be ancient history so athletics uk will have no argument for keeping it.
Trust me that is going to happen it was always Gold & Sullivan's plan which is why they're happy to promise anything now and so all those that think they are going to laugh at West Hams ground with no atmosphere think again, as I said months ago, with this they will become the third big London club challenging Chelsea & Arsenal and if anyone thinks differently they must have their head up their arse.

I did wonder about that but i've got no financial background so don't know how it works. The only ways I can think of are like these:

Say if Spurs finance 51% themselves and fans stump up for 49%. You invest your £10k (essentially as a property investment) and in 15 years the stadium's value (land, prestige, re-development from THFC etc) goes up to say £45k. You sell it for cash and then someone has invested £45k in property. This continues but what happens at the end? The stadium gets demolished and so the value is decimated? Unless the club sells the building + land to someone I don't see how anyone would ever get a return on the money? Essentially it is like a pyramid selling scheme?

Unless the agreement says the club has to buy back your share for x% more than you paid, y years from you buying them. That way the club has two mortgages. The first to buy the initial 51% for say 20 years and then another mortgage for the other 49% + interest to the fans for another say 20-30 years meaning the cost is spread over 50 years via two consecutive mortgages.

I assume I have it wrong though. How does it work? Is it like financial shares where the value can go down as well as up?

For once I'm happy to refer to wikipedia who have actually got a decent and understandable explanation of preference shares.

Seems Spammers fans aren't sure about it either. Sort of split over on KUMB.

I think most who would vote yes on Kumb for the OS, only would do it because Spurs are the other team and also not wanting us to move to that area.

Deep down they really can't be happy about the track and if they do win, the reality will hit them at some stage

It's a lose lose situation for them :)
