When we started out on this Olympic Park adventure most of us thought it was just a bargaining ploy and we were all set for the NDP however it now seems that the club have second thoughts on that, It may be a bit premature but if, and it now seems certain, we don’t get the Olympic stadium and the NDP has been pronounced “dead in the water” then we are in a state of limbo with a stadium all designed but with nowhere to put it.
Now I know Daniel Levy plays his cards close to his chest but when he was asked live on TV the other day if we had a Plan B I’m sure his face betrayed a hint of a smile so I now wonder if it is and always was the NDP or perhaps he’s already scouted out some alternative sites. If this is the case then where could they be? Would he look close by or further afield in North London perhaps even on the M25 rim or outside in the home counties?
From my local knowledge I could suggest the New River Stadium in White Hart Lane or perhaps a super new stadium in Alexandra Park with the Iconic North London showpiece Alexandra Palace as our backdrop, the old Frying Pan race course would surely be perfect!
Any suggestions?

I just don't see why he'd spend (or let the club spend) £70m on getting that far with the NDP and then drop it like a hot brick.

Nevertheless he might, what then?

Edit: Sorry wlwh I'll expand, the feedback from the WeareN17 meeting with DL seemed to show his case was as much about why we just had to move as it was about why the OS was preferable.

We should look to take over an athletics facility, flatten the fucker to metaphorically extend a middle digit to the OPLC.

Theres one over at waltham forest, even if we didnt build a stadium there we could just improve it by building a car park.

We should also see if we can help crystal palace fc build their planned new stadium.

I know there was a comment from Levy which basically said if we get rejected for the OS then we'd still move from Tottenham.

In answer to your question, I don't really know what the answer to the "what then?" question is. I'll be as intrigued as anyone else by Levy's next move if the decision falls against us tomorrow.

I don't think he dropped it like a hot brick, I suspect a gradual change in circumstaces have led to the NDP becoming less and less viable and eventually there is a threshold beyond which you just can't do it. The money invested in buying up the land isn't thrown down the drain as we can sell the land.

it wasn't really that gradual though was it? we were fighting Haringey for planning permission right up until we got a decision (when was that, November?) then suddenly we appeared out of no where in the running for the OS. That's how it seemed to me anyway.

Everything was geared towards the NDP, Levy urging us to contact the relevant politicians to urge them to make the right decision for us.

Then all of a sudden it was "we must get out of Tottenham if we're going to move to the next level"

New River Stadium could be an ideal location. It's around 15 minute walk from Wood Green Station. Also Bowes Park and White Hart Lane Station aren't too far.

Theres a great location next to Blackhorse Road station, currently occupied by the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre. Problem is, its LPFF land which probably makes it a no-go - but we could always offer them the WHL site in exchange.

Still, I'm not a property and land expert and Levy is - I'm sure he'll know what is realistic.

I'm with this - buy Waltham Forest Track & Field (used to be "the local pool" until it got dillusions of grandeur when all it was was a way to finance a pool that will always haemorrage money) or, better still, the first proposed Olympic venue - Picketts Lock

Buy it and plough the shit out of it - start diggers at both ends, we'll double team it and rape it into the ground, then just build a single solitary 200 foot high statue of a fist with the middle finger extended towards the new olympic stadium.

Then we can spend the global media money that will come with the coverage of our audacious construction to just build the original NDP plan

Somewhere around Tottenham's best and most well known transport hub, Tottenham Hale, would have been ideal. But we missed the boat with that one somehow, and allowed a developer to build on prime football stadia land!

I can't get away from the sense that an underground station next door is a bonus as it makes it a one trip journey from anywhere in London an nobody could argue this wasn't slap bang in the Spurs heartland even if it is E17.

Build it in Hyde Park.

We could at least still sing "we're the Park Lane, we're the Park Lane, we're the Park Lane Tottenham".

We'll be a mile away from Tottenham Court Road, a mile away from the pub called The Tottenham.

I know it would mean a lot of negotiation but the Tottenham Marshes are vast, stretching as far as Edmonton (where the abandoned athletics stadium was going to be at Picketts Lock).

We would be even closer to our original Northumberland Park roots there too although I mention that only in passing and not in the more obvious aspects of sentiment and nostalgia.

I would have thought there would be an area there large enough for a stadium that wouldn't detract from the wildlife and other sports and leisure facilities in the area. If anything, it would give them an added boost and put extra income into the area.

There would be space for parking too and there are decent transport links and wouldn't it be a great idea if Spurs adopted the clever idea that some supermarket chains have initiated and put on special Spurs short run hopper buses to and from the local station on match days to keep the crowds on the streets down to a more reasonable level? It would be well worth the investment.

There is a suitable space opposite marsh lane top of Lockwood Res but I don't know if it's for flood relief and I guess transport links may be a problem still, although it's just as easy to walk to from Billet Road on the other side of the river.

We could move to the USA. They have lots of space for a new stadium.

And no one seems to be too bothered about moving away from our area, so what's the bother about moving continents?

Fair enough Nick-TopSpursMan, this is probably not the thread for you then:)
