A little disingenuous SS57, I know there's not much right on the doorstep like the Bell & Hare but there's a few round the locality including the CIU social club probbaly the closest.

I'm sure Haringey would rather have Tottenham in the borough than out. I still think the club has a good relation with the local council, only Lammy was throwing a tantrum.

They don't any more, the council are extremly pissed off with Levy over the whole Stratford thing.

Knock down Brent x and build it there. Perfect transport links! ;-).

Actually that's not a bad shout. If memory serves me right it's at the bottom of the M1, is at the junction of North Circular Rd (A406), Edgware Rd (A5), and Hendon Way (A41). Also both Jubilee and Northern lines are within a 10 min walk, as is the Thameslink train.

It's probably a better transport link than Stratford

Not in Tottenham, I can't (and people can forget the Marshes), and I'm pushed to think of anywhere else in Haringey. There's a biggish area of playing field and light industry on Bull Lane near the North Middlesex, just over the Edmonton border, but I'm not sure it's big enough and the access and public transport would be horrendous. Pickett's Lock looks promising, but apart from the bloody great sewage treatment plant next door it's nearly a mile from Ponders End and a mile-and-a-half from Angel Road (which has to qualify as one of the most Godforsaken stations on the entire network); it doesn't take much to bring Meridian Way to a standstill, either.

SS, what's the situation with the Hale being redeveloped? I remember, back when the rumours of a new stadium first surfaced, someone happened upon a planning application/project for the shopping area around Tottenham Hale itself, but it later turned out to be unrelated. I never heard any more news about that and, last time i passed through there, no work was apparently even being prepared - did that never get any further? If the reason was simply financial and it was kyboshed because of the economic climate affecting the developer, maybe that entire area might be an option?

This thread is silly. It is not the location. It is the lack of any public funding and the bank loans that is making Levy nervous about the NDP.

I keep coming back to Picketts Lock too but then I keep coming up against the transport access which, as you imply, is pretty crap.
I agree about the angel road by the way:)

But the word is he is looking to move.

I'd be as unhappy about moving to Essex or Herts as I was about moving to Stratford tbh, probably more unhappy as it would have none of the benefits of Stratford but all of the bad stuff.

The thing about moving north to Essex/Herts is that the area is more natural Spurs territory than moving west or east.

That's true but location comes into it. I'm suprised Waltham Forest isn't trying to counter Harringey with much better offers for Spurs.

Although it's almost impossible to build a stadium in London. There's hardly any available space left and green spaces would mean a massive PR campaign even if it did get council support.

Space is not the problem. It is all about the financing, which is grim at the moment.

What about the Lordship Rec? It's nearer to Seven Sisters than we are now and even closer to Turnpike Lane. We'd probably need less than half the land, but we'd probably have to turn half the NDP site into a new community space to compensate. If anywhere in Tottenham needs regeneration it's there.

Only a short walk from Turnpike lane and Wood Green tube stations too, don't know what the council would think about it though.

The thing is it's a very underused piece of land, I think a lot of people are put off going there because of it's notorious neighbour, we would probably be able to build the NDP stadium on well under half the land. Access might be difficult as it is surrounded on all sides other than a few openings, but I'm sure that can be overcome.

Agreed but outside of Tottenham it still seems logical to me (ok apart from the sewage issue). All they would need is a train station between Angel Road and Ponders End.
