JJ always comes across as a very grounded, astute individual in these ES articles. I honestly think he gets a raw deal from most.

It's not his qualities as an interviewee we are judging him on though, is it? I would much prefer him to be a bumbling baffoon off the pitch and a great player on it, rather than a relatively articulate individual off the pitch and waste of space on it

No, sorry, I didn't make myself clear. i think a lot on here jump on the Jenas is shit bandwagon without taking any notice of what he has to say. He seems very astute off the pitch in these articles, but also gives away a lot of information about his injury struggles in recent years and how this has inhibited his ability to have a consistent run of games.

I am in no way shape or form a real fan of Jenas, but what I have noticed is his form this season (a season in which he has admitted to having been fitter and better prepared than ever before) has been promising on the whole. I think he has improved his determination in games and has actually been one of the better performers in many games he has been involved in. I think and hope that Jenas pushes on from this season and for the first time, actually starts to change opinions of him.

He will never be the first name on the team sheet, but he is an excellent player to have in the squad.

If Jenas had said what we were all thinking then he would have said " I'm playing for crustal palace next season"

No, he'd have probably made reference to your spelling and general tone on this site.

It wouldn't have been "Cusop has excellent spelling and a delightful tone".

Don't worry, I don't even know if I agree with myself. It's not easy being a Spurs fan is it! :)

Being a Spurs fan, it's not the despair that gets to me, the despair I can cope with. it's the hope...:violin:

Or words to that effect:grin:

I agree with this post. Albeit, it is slightly off topic!

With regards to the thread, how could players not take their eye off the ball to look forward to a game against Real Madrid? This club has not had these kind of matches for a significant period of time and just in one season we have played both Milans and Real Madrid. As a player these would be the matches you remember when you look back at the end of your career.

The club owe it to the fans to contest every competition that they participate in. Now in the league we have been decidedly average since Christmas, so really the game against Wigan and the subsequent result did not surprise me in the slightest.

Hopefully these games against Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter and the acknowledgement that we have pretty much finished our association with the Champions League should galvanise the players into wanting more of the same next season. Everyone realise that we are still in the hunt for 4th even though we have had a shocking 3-4 months. The next few games will shape our destiny, but with games against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City, it is still possible.

Whitestripe you have very little imagination and an inability to laugh at what was inteded as a joke. You truly have my sympathy as for my rep who cares, it's a forum and it's a forum for spurs fans with differing opinions. There are peeps on here who churn out the same old rubbish every day with very little basis other than there own self inflated opinions.

But having said that I truly hope we win on Saturday and then win 5 zip in the CL

Hope springs eternal as they say.
I
OH yes I can spell when I can be bothered.

PIP keep up the good work and all that

Fair enough, although i have to say my heart sank when I saw him in the line up on Tuesday. I think it would be mutually beneficial if he were to move on and maybe he will fulfil more of his undoubted potential elsewhere.

Agreed, you instinctively know we are scraping the barrel win he plays. He is one of the most consistently frustrating players to watch.

He waves his hands around when player dont move. But in reality they have no idea what he is going to do! He is the ultimate deliverer of the hospital ball. He is not good enough for England and he really should leave the club and go where he would be more appreciated by the majority of the fans. But lets be grateful he is not Zokora!

I am as frustrated as anyone at Jenas. I really thought he could have pushed on a level, but he hasn't. But he has been better this year.

But I will say this in his defence, it must be very hard to have to come on in a game, when you have been prepared as a sub, to have to start this gamewith 2 mins notice. So It would be nice to maybe cut him a little bit of slack?

This is what I think. He could be as productive a player as Lampard was, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen here.

Similarly, he seems to be popular with england managers but it's never translated into significant appearences/impact.

A lot of our players seem angsty about not getting enough games but not Jenas, who potentially has the most to gain. Then again maybe he's happy here and who are we to say what's best for his career.

you having laugh? cut a bit of slack? he cant do basics right. how hard is it to pick up man six yards out and bloody mark him not stand feet away from him before making a token effort? again why turn your back on corner when its every man to the pump after 60 minutes and not only that but again stand off and allow a cross to come in to box? i wud cut some slack if that was in 91st minute and were out on our feet but the guy is a shit footballer, has no football intelligence on the field by way he plays and offers nothing to us time and again. the amount of time he just stands off players and allows them to play is unreal.. we get murdered when he plays 99% of time. fucking hate seen him on team sheet cos i know we are in for real hard afternoon or evening. yet to be proved wrong

Jenas has been living off that free kick at Old Trafford for 6 years.

I know whats best for my enjoyment of the game and it is not to see him start. I am still as baffled as anyone, why Redknapp made this change to late in the preparations for the game. But most players would grasp the chance and he did not.

KPB or Jenas!
Ohara or Jenas!
Kranjar or Jenas!
Wilson or Jenas!
Huddlestone or Jenas!

Any of them would be preferable and all provide more to the team

KPB - not happy as a squad player. Not mature or disciplined enough for a starting role when he was here.
Ohara - excellent squad player. Wants to play football.
Kranjcar - different type of player.
Wilson - As inconsistent as you say jenas is.
Hudd - He's already ahead of Jenas.
