Its just dawned on me that perhaps Parker won't make it judging by that quote from Harry, and he intends to play Pienaar in the middle with Modric

Unless of course he feels its too early for Lennon to start.

Or he could just mean a place on the bench for Pienaar...

Probably coming off the bench. I definitely haven't passed judgement on Pienaar yet anyway - he hasn't had a proper chance to shine cos of injuries as Harry says - reckon he could still do a good job for us.

Remember how good he was at Everton? Player of the season when they had Arteta and all that...

Yeah totally agree, he hasn't had a consecutive run of games yet. I was coming from the angle of who wasn't going to make it though....however you're probably right, on the bench is what Harry probably meant.

Would love to see pienaar produce the goods in the next few months - as long as that doesn't mean lennon and bale have been injured!

Harry Redknapp says Scott Parker is "very, very doubtful" for tomorrow's Premier League match at home to Everton. Ledley King definitely out

I hope Harry doesn't do something stupid then. Like play Kranjcar and Modric in central midfield

Shame on both counts.

If Parker doesn't make it then go with Livermore in CM. With the rest of the side pretty much full strength I don't think he'll be overly exposed by this poor opposition.

Missing Huddlestone right about now.

Ffs was convinced Parker would be fit for Everton. That leaves us really light in the middle I dont think Livermore is anywhere near good enough, certainly not as a starter but we have no other solutions I dont think. This reminds me of our start to the season when we basically had no central midfield.

Everton are likely to play 5 in midfield too Drenthe, Heitinga, Feilani, Osman, Donovan / Cahill. Heitinga might drop into their defense to replace Jagielka but Coleman will probably replace him and he always causes us problems - this is gonna be a tough one to win.

I still think Parker will play. If not then Livermore should come in, no suicidal selection of Pienaar/Kranjcar in centre mid please Harry.

Friedel

Walker Kaboul Bassong BAE

Pienaar Livermore Modric

VdV Adebayor Bale

I'd go with this XI but more in a 4-4-2 formation.

If Livermore has to play central midfield with Modders I think having Pienaar tucking in (rather than two wide players) will help and won't massively restrict our attacking options.

So...

Friedel

Walker Kaboul Bassong Ekotto

Pienaar Livermore Modric Bale

VdV

Adebayor

Even with Parker out, I think he could still play, we should have enough about us to beat an out of form Everton team. I seen their game with Bolton and if it wasn't for Howard they would have been beaten 4 or 5 nil! This is where it matters, we need to show were aren't going to do the usual and bottle it when it counts the most!

Not that it really matters, but I'd have Livermore nowhere near the starting XI, he's not a ball winner by any stretch of the imagination and I don't even think he's that good a footballer if I'm honest.

Surely it's better having him in there than Pienaar or Kranjcar though?

The only other alternative is shifting Kaboul into midfield but that leaves Dawson and Bassong at the back which isn't ideal either.

The problem is that Everton are likely to pack the midfield (because they have no strikers) so we need to come up with something to deal with that.

Four attacking midfielders may have worked against Cheltenham but I don't think it will against Everton.

He has played in defensive positions, its needs must if Parker is out and he would be the best for the role in a choice of him, Pienaar and Kranjcar. All he has to do is hold his position in front of the back four and keep it simple, give it to the likes of Modric and VDV to create chances.

I think Pienaar's got just as much bite as him, I'd maybe even (and I never thought I'd say this) play Dawson and Bassong at the back and play Kaboul in there. Everton are pretty toothless.

I just dunno about Livermore, plus Everton are no Man City. I could see a Modric, Pienaar and VdV middle three keeping a lot of the ball. Livermore's a funny one, hmmn.

It's bad when I'm thinking of playing Bassong in place of him. Rock and a hard place.

I hope it's just Harry bluffing about Parker. Didn't some ITK say he was 50-50 for the WBA game and he's had a another week or so to recover since then.
