Was a bit disheartened to see Swansea are trying to extend his loan to next season and am hoping we're having none of it and he is instead bought into the team for next season like Kyle Walker was for us this year having been at Villa on loan the season before.

Really think he should be given the opportunity to earn himself a starting spot with us next year.

can he tackle?

come to think of it do Swansea tackle?

not seen any interceptions of balls into feet or tackling, just shepherding and headed clearances, also his "composure" seems more to do with the over respect that teams give Swansea in possession.
I reserve judgment...

There is something in this.

I always try and watch Swanseas matches to watch Caulker play but they dominate possession so much he never seems to have much to do. I never hardly see him header the ball or cover the full backs with a sliding tackle or anything. He actually doesn't seem to have much to do.

I am still reserving judgement.

I think this is a good sign though. We should be a team who dominates possession more often than not, that plays a high pressing game that requires defenders who are quick on the turn in case the opposition try to knock the ball over the top.

Last season people were clamoring for Johnson and Dann at birmingham to get a look in for the England team (and linking them to Liverpool and Arsenal) because they put in a lot of tackles, a lot of headed clearances, but that was in a team that basically sat deep and played defensively. Same with someone like Shawcross - a good backs to the wall defender, but when they have to push up and worry about the space behind them, or someone with tricky feet and dribbling skills, they look cumbersome.

I think Caulker is at exactly the right kind of club to get him ready to play for Spurs

I did see him fuck up against QPR last night for Mackies goal. He should of closed him down, instead he let him shoot and turned his back on him.

That's going to happen. Apart from Gallas I don't think our centre backs have covered themselves in glory the last couple of games, and Swansea are in a bit of a blip right now.

Hopefully any mistakes will help sharpen up his concentration, which again is something a team like us (and any team that wants to be at the top) needs.

Played RB for the first time today, may of done better blocking two crosses but tbh a CB partnership of williams and Monk is going to struggle against doyle and fletcher

Williams and Monk will be their CB partnership next season if they don't sign anyone so they may as well play it until the end of te season since they are safe. Caulker is going to be a huge addition to our squad next year and for years after.

I know but them finishing high as possible should be the goal as they could do with all extra money they can get

I'd say it was good for Caulker's development to spend a little time as a fullback so that he can understand the demands of that position and understand better the movements of wide players cutting in because more than likely that trend is going to continue and the quicker the centre backs can pick up the man cutting in and adjust the positioning with an extra player centrally, the better.

I think Williams is going to be exposed next season. He really, really isn't very good. Yeah, Caulker just seemed to look lost at right-back, and you could say he was at fault for Wolves' fourth goal. Thankfully though we have Walker and Naughton back for cover next season. (y)

Rodgers tried to do a Martinez and played 3 at the back yesterday, but the space between the central defender (Monk) and Caulker and Williams was unreal, it just looked poor yesterday and made none of the defenders look anything other than ordinary.

They'll be saddaned to lose him in Swansea. I hope we further add to their woes by picking up the blower to Hoffenheim and nicking Sigurdsson as well.

Let's gut this carcass.

TBH, I think it is important to know when to experiment, and clearly, yesterday was a day Rodgers could.

Not directed at you, just first opportunity I've had to say it :)

Don't think there is a way i could've construed that as "directed at me" but thanks for clarifying...
