I completey agree, there hasn't been as much as a mouses fart out of THFC regarding the Stadium and any changes to the plans in months now. This thread isn't changing into a thread on Cheat$ki's stadium, more of a comparison of what they are proposing to do versus us.

I think a lot hinges on that game tomorrow, and the qualifier.... ALL FINGERS CROSSED!

IMO opinion Levy will have built his business plan for the next couple of years on the basis that we might be playing CL football every say 2nd or 3rd year, but definitely not every year - the way to show that assumption is probably correct is to say that if he assumed we were playing CL football every year, the revenues would support a much bigger invesment in players, both fees and wages (which he has not done).

So whilst CL football might help raise the finance to build the stadium, the reverse (ie not playing CL football next year) does not mean the stadium will not be built.

People want 63,000 now?

That's 9,000 more than the original proposal. And upgradable? In a bowl? You'll be lucky.

And why 63,000? Why not 65,000? Or 69,999? Where does the 63,000 number come from?

Can we not keep clamouring for more every 5 minutes? And especially not just because Chelsea are a bunch of lucky cheating ****s?

Is anyone else concerned that we wont fill a 63K stadium except for the really big games?
I suspect Levy's banking on at least half of the people on the ST waiting list buying when they're available. That takes us up to about 40k ST holders so we'd have a decent shout of filling it for most games, I reckon.

No - they will have to be creative to get people in - Cheaper kids tickets etc

We need to grow
Agreed. One of the few admirable things about Citeh is their ticket prices. They're almost the cheapest in the league, and I'm damn sure they're still making a tidy profit. Economies of scale etc. I'd expect Levy to be following that lead.

Pricing policy will be key, it amazes me when you see grounds virtually empty that the clubs don't give tickets away for a couple of quid (to kids). The club should encourage people to bring friends, family, get new fans and football tourists once the initial buzz of a new stadium has gone.

The only problem with that is the season ticket holders would be pissed and want a refund (see West Ham).
But yes pricing is part, giving tickets away for competitions etc... also you could do a deal with foreign travel firms, British Airways, local schools. There are ways of making sure the stadium is full.

After winning the league, I would have been surprised if they didn't raise prices.

The thing is when Arsenal moved to their new stadium it was in a period of success and they had attracted a lot of new fans. I sure as hell know a lot more Arsenal fans now than I did back in the mid 90s.

I think this is the thing, like mentioned, cheaper kids tickets and subsidised tickets to schools even possibly to get the kids in and get them hooked on the heart-wrenching rollercoaster that is THFC! (poor sods).

I reckon the stadium will more likely be 55-56k, we have an awesome support but realistically speaking..it is bloody expensive supporting Spurs and I don't think there is any point having a stadium that is too big. Look at Juve, the Delli Alpi was ridiculous! The new Juventus Stadium is a million miles better because even though they only sell out 3 games a year or so, the design is such that it doesn't affect the atmosphere when there is 35/40k in there

I think season ticket prices will go up, while general sale prices remain similar or rise slightly.

I don't think we will see cheaper tickets as that will take the piss out of season ticket holders and there are also no 'crap view' seats anymore to justify reduced prices.

I have a feeling prices will be sky high still and we will struggle to fill it on a regular basis.

Not being paranoid I just can't see any capacity to reduce prices and do West Ham style 'get 'em in' policies as it will undervalue the headline season ticket prices, which will be pushed to maximum tolerable levels in order to maximise stadium income and pay off our then-debt.

Reduced ticket prices doesn't necessarily mean reduced income or profits. If we sold 40k tickets at an average of £50 a pop that's £2m or we could sell 60k tickets at £30 a pop, okay, so we'd only get £1.8m from ticket sales, but we would see an increase in merchandise, programme, refreshment, etc. sales, but also an increase in policing, stewarding, cleaning, etc. costs. I guess they have plenty of scenarios worked out as to what will be the most profitable route to go down.

According to the PL fans survey the busier the match the earlier fans tend to turn up, and the earlier fans turn up the more money they tend spend on ancillary products, somebody who turns up 2 hours before kick-off on average spends twice as much as someone who turns up only an hour before kick-off. Cheap tickets for children work, because parents who take children are the largest spenders on club merchandise.

There's a lot more to setting the ticket price than just maximising ticket revenue.

Economics come into play here. Due to such high demand, we have the economic capacity to raise prices yet still keep the amount of customers so to speak. So if we don't rise prices I think we're missing out on extra revenue. They've got to squeeze every penny out of us, when they're competing with the Uniteds and Arsenals who have far larger stadiums...

This is why I'm waiting for our new stadium to be built to try and get a season ticket!
