I was bigging this up to my boss who I took last night. was sat in east upper and although the 1882's sang all night the rest of the ground just didnt get involved. This could have been great but it wasnt as good as I was expecting. Shame. but carry on the good work gents.

Agree with this totally. I know Paxton is now teh family stand, but it was quiet.

I thought it came over quite well on the tele, although the Greek supporters were impressive too.
Got more TV focus but they were more telegenic in a football sort of way.
I was certainly aware that there was continuous noise.
I like the idea of chanting and cheering even when there's nothing much happening
especially when in the end we win.
Makes it all much more worth while.

On the tv, we wouldn't have known we had any home fans at all save for a couple of yid armys etc, out sung for the whole game by the Greeks, to be honest, it sounded quieter than a normal match. It genuinely sounded pathetic. Either they had the mikes in the wrong place or you were all put to shame by the away fans.

Mics in the wrong place.. I was in block 32, I only heard them when they scored the goal... But I was pretty pissed off that the rows directly infront and behind me hardly sang.. It's not difficult to open your mouth. Overall, I've lost my voice and my ears are ringing so.. I guess it was a kind of success!

The problem is the "I'm too good to sing" brigade.

Spurs is rife with it. Sometimes its even frowned upon if you sit in the wrong areas. Personally, I jump and jive like the greeks were last night

I'd love for 1882 to move to the paxton for a game. Would be a massive shock to the system. Make it happen Flav!

I see no reason why it shouldn't. As the songs are more possitive it would make sense to be near the family stand. Park Lane and the Shelf don't normally have a problem (I don't think West stand will ever be all that vocal - but they bring the cash).

Hi chaps.

Firstly, give this time. 1882 started out as something for the youth games, to bring supporters together to sing for the shirt and feel pride and love for Tottenham regardless of the team we were watching and the importance of the game. It works best when we're grouped together. Anyone that went to Charlton away in the FA Youth Cup last season or the Barca nextgen game or Maribor will tell you its an incredible experience. Says a lot about the modern game when it takes this for football fans to feel like they've completely changed their match day experience.

The reason we started to organise first team games was because of the lack of atmosphere at the Lane. Wish 1882 didn't exist tbh, but as a consequence of this current culture of 'comfort' it does. The aim was to get the Park Lane rocking again and in parts, it sort of worked. The problem is two-fold. Firstly, 1882 was scattered across a couple of blocks meaning most of us were surrounded by day-trippers or just seasoned Park Laners disinterested in singing for a Europa League game. This is going to impact the effect no matter how loud or how long you sing for. Shame really, but there you go. People did join in, inspired the Shelf Side, but just in spurts of support.

Next time, the plan is to ask people to just buy in the one block until its sold out and the club advise on the next available one.

For anyone who doubts this, if we get to do an away day this season (especially for the youth team) you'll come away saying its the best away day you've had. Maybe it has to do with the lack of pressure/expectations - but you truly embrace all things Tottenham. Having people in the Park Lane give funny looks for singing just about sums up what we (just supporters than want to sing) are up against.

Cheers,

Spooky

Also can't believe some of the comments ! Was in block 32, didn't stop singing from about half 6 in the brickies till the end of the game. Barely heard the away support from where I was. When they scored we sang avb's blue and white army for like 10 mins without stopping. I have no voice at all today. Any point about home support being crap should be directed at the 3 quarters of the rest of the stadium. Block 32 sung its absolute bollocks off for the entire game. Best atmosphere I've been to at whl, but maybe that's just my misfortune. Sung even more than I have done at any away game

I was expecting the ground to be rocking last night but it never really got going. It was alright. 32 and 31 tried to lead but no one followed. Fair play to them. It's just a shame the rest of the ground we're so quiet.

I was sat in block 30. (I asked my missus to book it, "32 or 31I said", she got me 30!) I was singing for all I was worth but no one near me got involved. I was sat amongst ST holders and day trippers. The ST holders just talked to each other all match, hardly watched the game and moaned about the club. The day trippers hardly made a sound.

I don't know why people didn't get involved. Dont know the songs? To shy perhaps? Who knows.

When the "we are the park lane....." "we are the shelf side....." was going on. I felt like I was the only one singing for shelf side. My throat is killing me.

I hope people get more involved next time. It's just about how to coax then out of their shells.

As others have said, i was at the back of 32 and genuinely didnt hear a peep out of the Greeks. The sustained AVB's blue and white army was the highlight for me!

Well done to all who have been involved with the 1882 movement and anybody who was singing last night. It's clear from what has been said that the TV people had mics nearer to the oppo than to you in 31 and 32.

Please keep it up. If it eventually catches on and we can get a new generation of singing fans then all your efforts will have been worthwhile. Hats off to you.

Good lad.

It get's to the point where I wanna sing "your support is fucking shit!" to our own fans.......... Shelf was were than usual on Thursday not sure why.. It was pretty much sold out. Everyone apart from block 32 were absolutely useless.

I seriously don't understand the point in attending games without singing.. You may as well watch it on TV, it's cheaper more comfortable etc... You go to the stadium to be involved in the atmosphere don't you?!??! Or do people just despise Andy Townsend that much :ROFLMAO:

Well, I enjoyed it!

Took a mate who'd never been to the Lane and he loved it, couldn't believe that the stewards allowed us to stand all match singing.

Fair play to the club for allowing it and thanks to Flav and the fighting cock lot for creating the best atmosphere I've experienced at WHL for a long time.

+1!

Yeah the lack of over-stewarding was fantastic. Stood the whole game, completely unopposed.

Full marks to the club.

I think all the stewards had to be taken to West Upper to look after that small batch of Greeks near the South Stand in West Stand.. Never seeen away fans in the West Stand before

Constant singing from 1882 Park Lane block, but Shelf-Side just didn't get involved....... Imo they should opt for the Shelf corner with Park Lane, so both Shelf and Park Lane sing..

I enjoyed it, didn't hear the greeks all game apart from them whistling brad friedel, not sure what it sounded like on TV but I was singing throughout. Also managed to see Bale in a box in the shelf.
as a shelf regular, gotta disagree, we got involved loads. wasn't just the 1882 lads signing but we didn't stop all game.
