Jealousy, I suppose. They have their reasons and excuses for our success (The FA, corrupt refs, the Illuminati) while City and Chelsea owe theirs to winning the lottery.

But they can't really throw any of those excuses at Spurs, they're just a well run club who are doing well without the help of a Shiek/Oligarch. I'm guessing Liverpool fans wish that was them.

Yeah exactly, we've taken their place in that top tier and they can't throw the big spending excuse at us.

I've heard that from Liverpool fans, believe me. Of course we have had a very high turnover of players so it makes our spending seem high but our net spend is very low. We got £30m for Berba and £20m for Keane and similar money for Modric. I think our record signing was around £16m

They've spent a hell of a lot more, and largely on total crap. Their financial results came out today and they're spending 70% of their income on wages, lost £40.5m last year, and their net debt is up to £87m with plans for a new stadium definitely shelved.
Everyone on here who has cited pure jealousy as the reason for their dislike of Spurs is absolutely right, it's tribalism that prevents them turning their ire against their own club and therefore easier to hate a rival team. Mind you, RAWK is a nuthouse forum and they probably do have some level-headed fans in the real world - that Toela fella that comes on here seems decent.

Spurs fan on RAWK:

You may well beat us but then again we have not lost for 12 league games and we are due. Anyone who thinks we are a one man team is deluded. The same ridiculous logic could be applied to Suarez, take him away and what have you got. Every good side has at least one prime player that they look to.

scouse response:

We have Stevie G, Lucas, Agger, Reina and Sturridge. A t least 6 of our players are better than tottenham are better compared position-by-position

The complete and utter refusal (its not an inability, its a conscious refusal) of Liverpool fans to even entertain the perspective of someone other than themselves is what sets them apart in terms of delusion.

Firstly, Agger is shit, and I honestly dont understand why LFC fans rate him so highly. He's capable of some decent performances but wouldnt get near the starting XIs of the 2 Manc clubs or Chelsea. Secondly, Reina has been poor for a few seasons now.

Thirdly, in the same way that they have Gerrard, Lucas, Sturridge as a supporting cast, we have Lloris, Dembele, Lennon. Any intelligent person would immediately acknowledge that the argument regarding Suarez is sound, and the counter-argument of a supporting cast can be applied to all teams who have one stand-out performer - but a Liverpool fan?!?!

"No no no we won the European Cup 5 times, you've got no history, football's been crap since the 80s wah wah wah'.

They do my f*cking head in (and I've got 2 in my family ffs!)

The post preceding the Spurs fan was glorious as well...

Feel free to eat your foot. We are not getting beat by a one man team. We are winning this one with two clear goals. We are way better than Spurs. They were lucky to beat us 2-1, lucky to beat West Ham as well as Arsenal. They've been riding the lucky Bale train for far too long. Will be fun to see them decompose after Bale leaves in the summer.

This is the start of that little exchange:

Personally think they'll be too strong for us, even though we are improving. 2-1 to them. Will gladly eat my foot if we beat them, would be a monster of a result. Got hope we can do them

which prompted this shitfuckerry in return:
