People saying 'Damiao and benteke please' ain't got a clue, it's not like popping down to the corner shop and buying a bag of fucking penny sweets...

Losing out on villa is bad news, he's an experienced winner that will score bags of goals and breed confidence throughout the squad. Sadly you can kid yourselves all u want but this is a missed opportunity.

Anyone saying this is a blessing in disguise is talking out of his arse.

I still cannot get my head around the fee, absolutely gutted, he was the player I wanted us to sign the most this window. Stupidly convinced myself we had him in the bag too :(

Will be interesting to see who we turn our attentions to now becaue there arent many strikers available and those who are are all around the 20mil + bracket which I cannot see us touching.

As someone said earlier Remy looks more and more of a goer :(

I don't see why Levy is being at all. Villa has simply chosen to sign for a club that is bigger and better than ours.
Did it ever get to the point where Villa had to make a choice between us and Athletico, though Justin? Surely for that to happen, Barcelona would've had to accept an offer from both clubs? So either we haven't bid for Villa, or if we have, perhaps it was less than the £4.4 mil Athletico bid? Perhaps, Levy low-balled Barca, thinking he had no other competitors for Villa's signature, and Athletico came out of left field?

You really think Levy wouldn't have paid 5m for Villa in a heartbeat? You don't see any reason why Atletico might be a more attractive prospect to Villa than us?
Perhaps not, Butch; perhaps Levy wasn't prepared to pay £5 mil. There was some ITK that Levy only wanted him on loan. Perhaps Athletico's was the highest bid? There's no indication that Levy is prepared to match that bid, so perhaps he doesn't value Villa that highly?

And you don't think Atletico are making up the shortfall in salary? Do you think we would be able to pay him £11m a year?
I don't personally. They'll likely pay him a very nice salary, on a par with anything we could match though considering they're not a stranger to building up massive, unsustainable debts.
