Should Bale be sold I find it difficult to imagine Levy spending £30m to £35m on Lamela. Bernard appears to be one of the few remaining cheaper alternatives surely? (assuming we're no longer interested in Di Maria, nor he in us).

Therefore it seems illogical that we're not still monitoring him. We can't let Donetsk go ahead and sign him without putting up a fight ourselves, can we?

Honestly dont think he will go Ukraine when he has just broken into the Brazil team, would ruin his WC chances.

Hes waiting for Porto/Scum/Us

€21m is the bid AM have accepted from Shakthar

Thought it was €25m? £21m?

If he was on a private plane then there is no chance we're involved. need i remind you of this?

That's not fair, Levy would send a private plane to get Bernard if we're trying to convince him to sign. But after he signs, we'd send him the bill and then make him stow away on a freight liner to get to London.

my mistake

"Tottenham made an offer of €18 million for Bernard but they withdrew. Arsenal told us that they would bid but never did so. So what we have now is a €25m bid from Shakhtar,"

Would be surprised if he doesn't sign w/ Shakhtar after today's visit. I'm sure they wined and dined him, had him hang out w/ their fellow Brazilians, and did a nice job selling the club.

If we are to make a move, we need to be decisive here in the next day or so. Unfortunately, I think this ship has sailed.

I've a feeling they may have misjudged their audience when they procured the Financial Times as in-flight reading material!

You're gonna have to change your sig mate. I keep getting distracted halfway through reading your posts and having a wank instead. What was that your were saying about Willian?

According to 'Estado de Minas', Bernard has just agreed to join Shakhtar, they say the deal will be confirmed by Atlético & Shakhtar soon.

To which I present you this Bernard, from a similarly talented Willian:

"If I were playing in a bigger league the same way as I've played here, I would have more chances for Brazil. To play in the World Cup in Brazil is my dream and it is only going to happen if I move."

It's a tricky one though, he'll be getting told a lot of things from the agents and part-owners who will dine out from Shahktar.
Shame that he's not going to Porto, would be nice to see him progress.

I think he is waiting for someone, could be us.
Just a feeling, thought it was convenient that he stopped in London on his way to the Ukraine.

Honestly, I don't get all the straw-clutching, it seems pretty clear our interest in him went cold after the £15m bid was turned down. For one reason or another we've moved on.

our club would be in touch with his agent - if he turned down Shahktar then the club may still want to sell him... (and the agent can possibly get a bigger fee from us). I think the club only wanted 18m euros for him in the first place. I wouldn't believe the paper talk that he has joined.

I'm with Daniel on this one, it's over guys. He'd have to reject Shahktar for us to be in with a chance because it looks like we didn't want to go above the offer we made.

Can't believe he's off to Shahktar until it's truly been put to rest. He's been settled with way too many teams already and I think those saying it's a done deal are just lazy journalists saying so because he visited.

Not saying Spurs will get him, but this saga has been going on too long to say it's done before it's 100% official.

Farewell Bernie, you could have had a great career in a competitive league. But you chose money instead .

Enjoy the winters in Ukraine!!!

Does it say anywhere our bid was rejected, I keep reading "we withdrew" could be something were not privy to. Who actually owns this guy, there is a third party is there not?
