Really think if Sigurdsson has scored when he shot wide with 20 minutes left we'd have went on and scored a couple more. We just need to be a fraction more clinical.

Always good to start a New season With 3 Points :)

First half was to mutch pre season, low tempo and bad movement
Second half was a lot better, Soldados goal came at the right moment
Sigurdsson and Defoe should have nicked a goal each

Capoue looks very good!

Lennon was really frustrating today, he did well to get the penalty, but every time he got in the final 3rd he lacked any sort of imagination or flair, but here's hoping that'll be gone in the next couple of weeks.

Started really poorly but thought he got better as the match wore on and defensively he's a real asset.

Overall I think we were poor and I don't think we deserved the three points however it's a good sign that we won in spite of that. When was our last penalty in the Premier League? When was the last win on the first day?

Capoue looked amazing, probably my MOTM. Chadli looked good too and Soldado had moments of class (and moments he'd rather forget). Lennon won us the penalty but he's clearly reverted to Redknapp-era Lennon who's afraid to go past a player. Defoe made the most amazing run I've seen in years only to cock up the finish with just the keeper to beat

I left the thread at half time. Some of the posters are beyond words and seriously need to take a good hard look at themselves.

First game of the season three points, FOUR debuts, players only just back from injury and the whole Bale saga upsetting things, and you want to pick out individuals to lambaste including players that should not play for our team who did their bit to win the game.

If you are not going to give the team your support wait for MOTD and support whoever won by two three or four goals, sound like the plastic chavs down the road.

Rant over

Should of won it 2 or 3 nil in all honesty, and we still looked rusty and disjointed for large periods in our attacking play. Very solid looking and given the circumstances its a great three points.

All in all we are going to get better and stronger over the next few weeks. Not a great game/performance by any stretch but it will certainly do for a tricky season opener where we invariably struggle :)

Capoue looked fantastic by the way, very impressed. Soldado looked good and he'll benefit more when our attacking play improves and we show more cohesion.

Personally I thought are full backs were very good today, bar one ropey header from Walker. Paulinho went about his business well, nothing eye catching per se but quietly effective. Chadli grew into the game second half, think there is a lot to come from this guy.

The strength we have for midfield now is pretty incredible.

How did we not deserve the 3 points?

I'm struggling to think of real clear cut opportunities for them where they should have punished us. We had several that went begging

Three points was needed, can't drop games to these type of teams. That being said:

Lennon was very poor.
Chadli, picked up at the end.
Gylf is not a first teamer
Rose was great
Walker was steady
Soldado is class but must be frustrated.

The game looked a lot like last season except bale wasn't there to make the spectacular happen.

We are in dire need of a creative mid that can pick passes, or two. I know it has been said, but a Mata in our side would put us over the top.

Also have to say Lloris is the best keeper we have had in my lifetime. So good at reading the game and coming out and claiming the ball before a chance is even created. Then after hardly having to make a save all match came out with that fantastic double save.

Lloris is a great keeper but if you ever knew Jennings then I very much doubt you'd be saying this.

controlled it really, just the very good palace fans made it seem more than it was.

the only bitter after taste for me was siggurdson, he should have went off instead of Demebele. Thought he was really poor in the hole. I hope Bale plays there again or Willian if he leaves

oh and a hate to say it because he was ok overall but Michael dawson, he steps up at the wrong moments leaving gaps and doesn't have the pace to save himself and those long balls aren't good for my blood pressure

Capoue looks a steal at £9.3m. Looks to have it all to make it in the premier league but still early days.

All that matters was winning and we did that. I've seen us play better and lose.

Fact is regardless of what "some" people's perception is Palace away on the first day of the season was never gonna be easy and no matter how good the recent signings we have made they will take a few games to settle in and gel.

It can and will only get better.

No, I'm not saying anything of the sort, I'm saying what I said.......

This post sums so many of our fans up!

The weakest link award, unbelievable!

But you are not stating what it is you find "unbelievable" and what you think it says about me as fan. If it is the wording you are opposed to i can easily substitute it. On a scale of 1 to 10 i give all our players a 5 or slightly above for their performance today. But lennon get a 4 from me today, for his poor decisions. I wish him well and hope he improves.

Oh and is Jedinak Niall Quinns secret lovechild???

His commentary was fucking cringey, he might as well of said "I want Palace to win so Spurs don't go above Arsenal".

I hear he is auditioning for the Crystals Cheerleading Squad.
