Sorry to agree with everyone else about Dembele. Unfortunately he wasn't even anonymous but positively halted progress any time he had the ball. Europa League for the time being.
I am surprised not to see Soldado on the bad week list. This was my first time at The Lane this season and I was horribly disappointed at his lack of movement and inability to influence a game.
May seem harsh and of course he is no mug but at this level we are talking Suarez as the ultimate. Yes I know he has Sturridge up front as well but he could do the job Soldado does only twice as well.
I know he has plenty of admirers on here and I have even seen him defended on the basis that he doesn't make runs because he knows a pass won't come! I have even read that he works his socks off. Not on Sunday he didn't.
May come good but something off at the moment.

Well said, thats what happens when people go to the games and see him live rather than come out with some shit based on watching games on the internet or on TV

There is nothing about him to suggest anything will change as there was an excellent cross into the box at the start and he was no where to be seen.....

Yep.
5 in 40 odd games for Heskey. Yet all I heard was people say "yeah but he does this and he does that"
Truth is he did f all.

In terms of scoring goals he wasn't great but to be fair to him he did hold the ball up very very well and helped bring others into the game

At least if Soldado did that then we could say fair enough but he doesn't even make use as an outlet doing that really does he

Whenever I saw Heskey he fell over and gave the ball away.

Off the subject slightly but me and a couple of mates were saying how good itd be if we still had Modric, Van der Vaart and Berbatov in our current team.....oh and you might as well throw Bale into the equation too :)

Harsh man, some of us can't get to the lane as easily as we'd want too; doesn't make us any less aware of what's going on on the pitch

Sorry mate, no offence meant, im not saying that everyone who doesnt watch us live has no real perception of what some players are all about, only certain people

Obviously not everyone can get to the games.
But sadly only those that do and get the luxury of watching who they want when then want get the full picture.
What Jamie and I have observed is how little Soldado does off the ball. He's very static even when play is right up with him.

Absolutely spot on

I had 2 clowns behind me the other day saying...

''Soldado is too good for our team, his movement is WORLD CLASS''

I literally sat there and thought oh my god, are they watching a COMPLETELY different game to me and thousands of others???

I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing!!!

But yes, that is my beef with Bobby, his movement off the ball in terms working hard, hustling the defenders, putting himself about and making run after run after run

There are some players in football who aren't technically gifted but they put in a shift and things happen for them just because of their work rate off the ball

Then you have people like Suarez, Rooney and Tevez for example who are amazing players as it is but coupled with their non stop work rate means they are getting more out of their games than just scoring the fancy goals, they score the niggly ones and also (inadvertently at times) make things happen just because of that

This notion that the service is poor is a double edged sword. Whilst the service isnt great the players need something to aim for and someone to play off of and making just 1 or 2 runs (if that) isn't enough, it needs to be a consistent thing throughout the whole match

As I alluded to before, there were at least 2 quality balls into the box but Bobby was no where to be found

I'm also aware of his poor off the ball movement too watching on a tv 16000 miles away.

Ironically Defoe often gets critised
for getting caught offside. But at least he makes runs!

Personally what worries me most is avbs reluctance to remove off form players like soldado and give others a chance.

He also needs to be more dynamic in his tactics; the inverted winger thing just insn't working at the moment

Probably took him by surprise.

Drop Townsend. Put Lamela on the left, Lennon right.
Then we'll find out if Soldado is lacking service or just shit.

Only reason I put Disagree is because I personally believe if Lamela must play on the wings then he should be on the right, but I'd prefer him behind Soldado with Lennon right and Townsend left. Eriksen has dropped in form of late and Lamela is a natural No.10 so why not play him in that role. We are in enough competitions to keep players happy with rotation, plus I believe a certain starting 11 suites a certain opponent rather than having a set 11 and set formation for all games

Exactly

Even my gooner mate I met up with today said he can't believe how shit Soldado is, he thought he was supposed to be a good player

He was like, ''Why does he keep picking him and not pick Defoe? Its Ricidulous''

To which I replied, ''Thank you, exactly, even you, a gooner mug can see it ;) ''
