I think a good few of us, myself most definitely included, need to apologise for absolutely tearing into Andre's team selection.

Granted, Sunderland helped us by being hideous but Andre made big calls - especially in light of injuries and I'd say every decision was more or less vindicated.

We all like to play football manager and think we know best but with the pressure AVB has been under, to come up with 7 points in 6 days and two away victories in these circumstances he deserves a fuck load of credit.

Andre, I doth my cap to you!
Well said sir!

Only one downside to the game for me, how good is Walker and how long till the vultures start to spot it ?
I know some of our supporters don't see it, but Walker is a top class RB who is only getting better.

Last year was our record points total. This year we're currently on course to match it. We're doing something right. We're not playing great football but we didn't last season either - Bale saved us numerous times. On the flip side, I haven't seen more consistently solid away performances in my lifetime as a Spurs fan. All this with 7 new players who haven't gelled yet or hit anything like their peak.

I have complete confidence we will be challenging for a top 3 place in May.

THIS!!!!! Was the best - creative...bossy...broke up play...VERY GOOD PLAYER and underrated by many Spurs fans
Exactly. Frustrates the life outta me 'cos Moussa can be as good as he wants to be! His goal record is scandalous.

As poor as we often are at supply (and we are) i would never, ever pick Defoe over Soldado. We had some quality crosses and through-balls put in today for one of the few times this season and bugger all on the end of them. The miss by Defoe (from the six yard box i think) tells us all we need to know, and i just hope that Nielsen wasn't watching from his TV room over in Toronto.

With Lennon back to form and Chadli, Lamela, or Townsend available to play on the left it makes no sense to persist with this defunct experiment that is Defoe.

I'm sure that was said mostly in jest but I don't think anything Defoe does here would affect Toronto wanting to sign him up. Defoe would score an absolute shedload in the MLS (that doesn't mean I want him starting ahead of Soldado though!).

If our home support was as good as our away support, the team might relax and get the results.

But realistically that won't happen. Our home form needs to improve regardless. Wank home support doesn't seem to hurt the other top sides.

We are still picking up results, and we are still the team that's farthest away from reaching our potential. That's not a bad thing.

Now for a comfortable win against Anzhi before a gritty performance to ensure three points against Liverpool. Then whack the Whammers out of the cup. It shall be glorious.

We carved out plenty of 'real' opportunities. Plenty. :)

We murdered them. It was a 2-1 massacre. The fact that there are people negatively dissecting this to the nth degree baffles me. We've gone from mass manic depression to complaining that we didn't dominate for 90 minutes and kill the game off. Two away wins, both times coming back from a goal down and this time with flashes of absolute domination. At times we passed them to death. At times we absolutely dominated and embarrassed them. Poyet's team aren't the mugs they were at the start of the season with Di Canio in charge and this was a very very good result.

If nothing else perhaps we can take this a sign that we're at least heading in the right direction. A bit of improvement here and there is needed but it's all looking a lot rosier now than it has done for a few weeks.

A&C i agree with your summing up on both games, and today we did play some skillful, incisive football. If we couldn't keep possession against bottom of the table Sunderland then which team will we? It was only when we went a goal behind that we stepped up our game and applied pressure (very much like the Fulham game), but our play then became meaningful and energetic.

I don't think that anyone on here should get too depressed after a loss (aside from me) or too enthusiastic after a win. We can only beat who's put out in front of us but let's look to beat a "top four" team and then make some kind of an assessment of progress after the Citeh debacle rather than after beating the bottom two sides after giving them a goal lead, which in itself is a very good sign indeed.

We are heading in the right direction and i'd give anything for Baldini to unearth the next Aguero or Suarez for us, because as i said previously we would be fucking awesome if that ever happened.

How it looks now is we wont beat Arse or City, and id be amazed if Chelsea really fuck up. Does that leave us at 4th is best option between us, Man utd, Liverpool and Everton?
I'm really hoping Everton get something out of the game and then Napoli beat them by a large margin to dump them into the EC. I'm still very suspicious about the way Napoli played at the Haemorrhoids.
If they do get dumped out, I'D LOVE IT (points at camera repeatedly)

Really encouraging signs tonight. Yes, we should have won by more but how many chances did we create? More than I can think of this season. Special mention for Capoue who was excellent - biggest compliment is that I didn't really notice Jan wasn't there.

Good signs regarding the balance of the team too especially when Townsend came on. He did well on the left and created chances for Defoe and Paulinho. Surely that is where he should be deployed, especially with Lennon returning to fitness and form. Walker and Dembele were really good tonight too.

Difficult to listen to Alan Parry though. I don't know if anyone earlier in the thread noticed but some his his commentary was inaccurate and embarrassing. At one point he mentioned that we hadn't won a game from behind all season. Queue Yiddos shouting 'Fulham away you £&%! ' up and down the land.

We sold Gareth Bale in the summer and patted ourselves on the back for it.

Fourth is open but I still think Liverpool or everton will get it I'm still convinced we will blow up at some stage.

I know what you mean, we are Spurs of course so the likelihood of us blowing it is high, however I can equally see both Scouse clubs pressing the self destruction button.
