Judging by AVB's first interview in a Portuguese magazine the other day, it certainly doesn't dispel the rumour that he resigned, or at the very least wasn't upset at the idea of leaving.

In which case, how the hell can we blame Sherwood? He's been thrown in as there is no other option.

In the summer he'll no doubt be replaced by a 'proper' manager. But until then, it's embarrassing to see so much negativity/hate aimed at him by our own supporters.

There are other options just we decided not to go for them. Hoddle and Pleat for example have the experience and background to have guided us until the end of the season.

Or we could press on with Sherwood and completely f@ck the club up. Sometimes you just have to admit a terrible mistake has happened and then sort it out.

I have seen nothing in three games to indicate he knows what he is doing or knows how to sort things out when they aren't working. Starting with Holtby and Eriksen and then bringing on Bentaleb rather than Capoue was inexcusable.

Off With His Head!!!! HUZZAH!!!! that's the spirit (y)

BTW - are you Capoue's agent?... :playful:

Have many managers gone straight into top level management without any prior experience at senior level, as even a coach, and succeded, in the modern game?

In this years CL nine out of 16 managers / head coaches on knockout stage started at the top flight

The fact that our emergency options are Hoddle or Pleat, shows exactly how limited we were once AVB went.

I don't think either of them would have been any less risky. Especially as they'd have to get to know the entire squad. Sherwood and the rest of the staff have the advantage of already knowing most of them. Plus the break through youth players. Less upheaval for what is certainly a short term appointment.

It's only a few more months anyway. Then we get a new manager in, and things can start again. For better or worse.

Agreed

I would have gone for Rijkaard for 6 months at least, although actually he could be a long-term appointment too

just like our 'fans'....
For large portions of my time supporting Spurs I would agree with this sentiment, but not this time, criticism of what the board have done and Sherwoods tactical ineptness (in the first 3 games) are very very appropriate. Saying that, while at the lane we have to be behind Spurs (inc TS) 100%.

And how many training sessions?

It'll take time to make this team resemble football team after they've been playing and training that risk avoiding slomo football for half a season (and haven't played together any other kind of game), it would take time for any given manager be it Tim Sherwood or Jesus. We won't finish high and it'll be difficult january, perhaps even february, but if they resemble football team by the end of the season, it has been a huge help to someone else if that someone else takes over at the summer.

I think LVG is lined up after the world cup and DL thought it was better to with timmy who's already atthe club and that the players know about than another brand new face to fill the gap.

Misjudged.

With respect JJ how can sacking a manager and replacing with someone with no experience or correct quals be positive and why should the fans be happy with it?

Would any other top 6 club do what we've done? If we want to be a big club then the board have to step up and make the correct decisions to make us one in and off the pitch. Starting with Levy sticking to business and the manager to football. That way we don't sign players because they have massive potential all the time (Eriksen) but ones who will make us a top club. (Moutinho).

He could be here a whole season and have gone through 100 training sessions but he still don't have the basics of football tactics and management. A guy that overlooks a French international over a kid just because he knows him better says it all....

Now please stop with the excuses! That's what the AVBOut brigade told us!

FdB was assistant coach with the Netherlands side that went to the World Cup final and coached Ajax youth teams at the same time so hardly zero experience.

Guardiola managed Barca's B team which plays in a competitive league and he won Tercera Division and then went on to win 2008 Tercera Division play-offs to get the Barca B team promoted to Segunda Division B so that is the same as managing in the lower leagues here in England.

So you think Sherwood has been doing fuck all since 2008 when he joined our coaching staff?

think you may be wasting your time explaining just how ridiculous the situation is, he has an even bigger crush on Sherwood than Levy
