I'd gladly take bony in the summer, beast of a man

Bony was absolutely incredible in the Eredivisie last season, and has continued that form in the Prem.

Benturkey's a one season wonder that has been found out.

I would have made a cheeky bid for Bony in January just to test the water (even though Swansea would have been mad to let him go).

Apparently though we don't need a striker and that won't change in the summer imo. We have a blind spot in recent times regarding strikers. Takes us years to buy one, so the next one won't be due until 2016 at the earliest.

Ever since we had Berbatov, Keane, Defoe and Bent we seem reluctant to have real depth up front. Although we're quite happy to collect solid but unspectacular midfielders like they're going out of fashion.

Considering the impact and importance to our team of Berbatov and Keane, as well as the success of Man Utd largely built on quality up front I just don't understand it.

I was half watching the last ten minutes on a shitty stream and I saw that chance. Certainly wasn't one-way traffic.

I can hardly believe how we've cocked up this season. Like a lot of people, I thought we were good for a top 3 finish. I wasn't worried about Liverpool at all.

Well you really got that one right ;)

See its easy to cock things up.

They were magnificent today, the bastards..............

Their pressing was ferocious.

I suppose conceding a goal so early must have rattled Arsenal but they contributed to their own downfall with that high line. I hope we don't play a high line when we go there.

No, we don't need a crap striker, which is almost certainly what we'd have got in January. There was no-one who was decent, used to the EPL and happy to sit on the bench available—another Saha, for example.

Even playing two up front regularly we had real trouble keeping all four happy—even three top strikers and Barnard was a problem, because Defoe clearly wasn't pleased about being second fiddle to Keane. You can point to City, but we don't pay the wages they do.

Why the fuck was that game 3rd on MOTD? Just because it's City it gets ahead of other much more exciting, goal-filled games? Absolute joke.

Yes, but at least it gave more chance to wonder what happened to the team that stuffed us.

I agree that four strikers of similar quality is probably overkill. You are always going to have unhappy players in a squad though who aren't playing regularly. That's just the way it is.

My main point was that we seen happy to have that situation with CM's or CB's but with strikers its like "oh, we can't have an unhappy player on the bench". I don't get the logic there.

I was so pissed off when Swansea signed Bony for £12m in the summer. I was expecting the big guns to be after him, but would have hoped we'd at least have shown an interest. As much as I rated Soldado, Bony would have been a better fit for us, and at half the price.

I hardly have a vast knowledge of European football, yet it baffles me that I could see he would have been a great signing, yet our supposed expert manager couldn't.

I wonder if he needed seven tries for every goal in Holland. Benteke's done a little better in the conversion stakes.

Plenty of ways that stats can be interpreted. Maybe he'd have had a better quality of chances provided if he was at Spurs instead of Swansea?

Then again, maybe not.
