After watching QPR vs Burnly I can see why it's like school yard football Burnly chaging about 100 miles an hour it's like in the play ground everyone follows the ball.

Considering Sherwood said he was good enough to play for Barcelona, I'm very surprised he hasn't been recalled. Maybe he's trying to do his old mate, Harry a favour..

Think we have enough central midfielders to be getting on with. There are going to be some tough decisions in the summer on who to let go out of Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Capoue, Bentelab, Holtby, Livermore and Carroll. Eight into two central midfield slots does not really go (and Tim also really rates Veljkovic).

Hughes against Carroll

Should be interesting, I don't agree with Carroll being there but I guess we have to stick with it now

First time I've watch QPR this season, Carroll's had a few good touches.

But I know from managing them on Football Manager that all QPR's good work will ultimately be undone by Richard Dunne.

Have to say watching Carroll play he is nowhere near ready for us. The game is passing him by.

Another loan next season I think.

It's like being in a time warp, Carroll comes off, Redknapp and Bond whisper in Jenas' ear before sending him on and with his first touch he puts it out of play.

Some QPR fans comments off Twitter- hopefully they are just out of frustration:

Never looked like scoring. Tom Carroll was hopeless again! don't think we will go up with players we have. All starting to fizzle out. #qpr

Tom Carroll will be quality for us when we start playing at goals 5 a side. 11 a side game? No thank you!

Playing Tom Carroll in a physical game is a waste of time might as well of played with 10 men #DERvQPR

We can't be too hard on ourselves, we did well with 10 men. I'm referring to Tom Carroll's poor performance.

Tom Carroll comes off? When was he on? #FindCarroll

I've been patient with Tom Carroll as he's so young but he's been a really disappointing signing so far, has offered very little. #QPR

And my favourite:

Tom Carroll is an absolute crock of shit I'd send him back to spurs in a poxy little bag down the post office tomorrow

He really struggled to get involved tonight, however, when he did receive the ball I thought he showed his usual good touch, and elegant and nimble passing. I think his role in this midfield is a bit muddled, and its causing him to not play a large part in events. Bizarrely, I think he would be better off under a manager that has stricter tactical briefs, rather than one who likes to let the boys play. At least then, he would have a definitive role and it would most likely be ( or I'd hope it would be ) one of sitting deep and being the guy who collects the ball off the defenders and knits the play together. Carroll to me does not seem suited for a 4-4-2, but for a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3

I think in this role he could be metronomic and keep probing to create spaces and try and start attacking moves and if they have to play more direct and long at least allow it to be Carroll pinging the passes from deep. He at least has the capability to see splitting passes, even if he will get some wrong. For instance, if he were playing in an AVB PL team, you know that he would have a defined role, we would have a lot of possession and you know he would get a fair bit of it himself.

Having said that, he himself also needs to find a way to try and take more control of a game, or at least get in and about the action a bit more. From what I've seen this season ( maybe five odd games ), I actually think he could do with a wee bit more work rate/trying to put himself about a bit. We know he has the poise and technique, but he still seems too passive to me. If he could roll up his sleeves a bit more, and gt a bit stronger I could see him being like a Gago type player ( someone who I thought was underrated and unlucky with injury )

I like what he can do with the football. Whether or not he can do it for 70 minutes, with physically stronger players against him, I'm not sure.

Gifted football brain, however.

I've only just realised. What a ridiculous team for a young boy like Carrol to be a part of! Surrounded by 10 midfielders, many well experienced! This is simply not the right club for him. He's had 13 appearances in QPR's 29 games (God knows how many of them are starts) and does anyone know if he's had injuries? If he's been fit enough to start 80% of their games, then yes @tiger666, I am indeed saying he's wasted!

He was out for a month I think when he received a bad challenge in an Eng u21 match. Tbh his loan has been mixed but Im def not writing him off.

Last year in his prem and EL appearances he has showed that he cna play in our team. Just because a loan doesn't work out doesn't mean he won't make. Here is where people cite Townsend and Livermore. Some argue that if you're good enough you should be dominating but I dont always think it's the case.

Nabil has shown that he is capable of the box to box or no10 role yday as per his u21 days, and knows Carrolls game. I will say it again. Carroll, Pritchard and Veljokivc could all do a job in our 1st team with Bentaleb like they did with the u21s. If Sherwood is here next season I would like to see him giving these 3 genuine opportunites in the first team squad.

Providing everyone stays fit and strong, considering our summer signings still haven;t fully setteld, I would sell Sig and maybe buy a LB and that is all. Fill up the rest with the talent from our academy
