No to the saints guy, cant speak English

Command of English should be non negotiable
I think Levy knows this after Ramos. Poch's name has only been banded around a little bit, out of coincidence. If we were interested then there would be more noise.

He can speak English. He just refuses to talk to the press in English as it is too easy to take things out of context, and he is reluctant to give them sound bites by accident.

He speaks very good English according to all those at Southampton. He just chooses not to speak English in interviews because he doesn't trust the media not to take this piss out of any minor mistake.

There's no guarantee that any player we sign will hit the ground running, all players take a while to settle, even Bale himself. What is guaranteed though, is that if you sign a player for £25-£30m and then hardly even play him, he's definitely not going to be able to provide a spark to win games.

Lamela was the player we signed who could have provided that spark to win games, as he did in Italy. But considering AVB preferred to have him watching on from the bench for 90% of the time it was never likely to happen.
No there isn't you are right, but actually Bale has definitely hit the ground running at Real Madrid, he didn't when with us because he was a very young talent, much like Lamela is.

It is that that we needed, a player who could come in and perform straight away, or quickly. But bale papered over a lot of cracks and losing him exposed them horribly.

But anyway, let's see what happens post Sherwood.

Yes every appointment is, but while Pochettino has been largely good for Southampton I would argue he hasn't shown nearly enough to merit the Spurs job over candidates like Van Gaal and De Boer who has made Ajax into a really good side despite losing his best players every season.
On the flip side Pochettino has Prem experience, 2 successful seasons under his belt, players love him, plays loverly football. I'd probably favour LVG slightly but I certainly wouldn't be against Pochettino, I think for the first time theres about 4 candidates who I'd be happy with.

Wonder if the timing of all this is an attempt to lift the players a bit?

If they know Sherwood will be off then in a weird way that could make them more motivated to play for their futures.

It could. But it could also make them give a fuck even less.

On the other hand Sherwood may just pick a team that only consists of the players he likes...which might mean a team of:

Naughton Bentaleb Rose

Lennon Adebayor

...and that's it.

If you take these games, but discount those games, then add this game on because it was against a non league side, but not that one because it was against a pub team from Kazhakistan, then subtract the Bale factor by a factor of 3/4 which also zeroes in on the Adebayor phanotplasm ectowotsits then we have a fair comparison. Oh and don't forget this was 36 years ago and the difficulty of the league was not at the same whirlpool toiletroll.

What about the PPG? For the love of god, does nobody care about the PPGeeeeeeeee?

Pochettino has currently got a pretty talented Southampton squad to eighth. Even we beat them twice.

It's a solid start but I'd hardly say it's spectacular. I'd say the jury is still very much out on him.

I remeber feeling the same before we appointed AVB. I was happy with him, Martinez, Rogers or wait for it.......................Moyes. I just hope we make the right appointment this time

I'm going to stick a tenner on Klinsmann. Won't stay in USA for ever. Time to come home Jurgen.

I agree with a lot of what you say, apart from; Highlighted.

For obvious reasons Sherwood shot himself in the foot with that one, further more I don't think he will be at the club in any capacity and that would be best for all, IMO.

I would completely agree.....honestly, i can't think of any manager (regardless of stature or accomplishments) in any situation who would want the predecessor at the club in any capacity, too much of a risk that they may get undermined in some manner.

I could see Tim heading off into the sunset to resurface at a smaller club and "conveniently" that team getting a group of Spurs youth on loan. Like i said, i think the people in the club like Tim (I personally am not a fan in any manner of the man) and could see it as a case of he stepped into a situation that realistically stood very little chance of succeeding so if he goes off to a smaller club and we can help him (and at the same time help the club) they will absolutely do so.
